Database Installation Maintenance
Assist in the installation, basic configuration, and patching of MySQL instances.
Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including index optimization and table defragmentation (OPTIMIZE TABLE).
Execute minor version upgrades and engine maintenance for AWS RDS instances.
Monitor core database metrics (CPU, Memory, Connections, and I/O) to ensure high availability and scalability.
Identify slow-running queries using the Slow Query Log and provide initial analysis to developers for tuning.
Track storage growth and manage disk space to prevent Disk Full incidents in both on-premise and AWS environments.
Verify the success of daily backups (using mysqldump, mysqlpump, or Percona XtraBackup) and perform routine restore tests.
Monitor MySQL replication lag and status (SHOW REPLICA STATUS) to ensure data consistency across clusters.
Respond to automated alerts and incidents promptly to minimize downtime and meet SLAs.
Manage user accounts, grants, and password policies to ensure data confidentiality and integrity.
Implement predefined security measures and audit user access in accordance with company standards.
Ensure SSL/TLS certificates are updated and encrypted connections are enforced where required.
Partner with L1/L2 Support teams to resolve escalated connectivity and performance tickets.
Document all configuration changes, incident post-mortems, and How-To guides for the internal knowledge base.
Collaborate with development teams to implement schema changes and basic database design improvements.
