Job summary

Bazaarvoice in Bengaluru, India, seeks an experienced Backend Engineer to build and scale core services powering a global consumer feedback and e-commerce network. You will own Java backend components, REST APIs, and data pipelines from design through production, with emphasis on performance and reliability in cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java 11/17+ with strong OO design.

Responsibilities

• Write unit/integration tests; participate in peer reviews and triage issues.

Job description

• Build, scale, and maintain core services powering Bazaarvoice’s global consumer feedback and e-commerce network
• Own backend components, RESTful APIs, and data pipelines from technical design through production deployment and monitoring
• Design, code, test, and deploy features for core Java backend services and REST APIs
• Write efficient code optimized for performance and reliability in high-traffic cloud environments
• Assist with database query tuning, service optimization, and performance monitoring
• Integrate and extend AI-powered features, including agentic workflows
• Collaborate with Frontend and Data Engineers to refine specifications, break down tasks, and deliver product and internal-tool updates
• Write unit and integration tests, participate in peer code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and monitor performance using tools such as Datadog
• Participate in architectural discussions, contribute to technical documentation, and adopt backend best practices
• Participate in the engineering interview process as applicable

Requirements

• 4–7 years of professional backend software development experience
• Strong foundation in object-oriented design and cloud-based architecture
• Solid working proficiency in Java 11/17+, including collection frameworks, concurrency basics, and modern Java features
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Spring Data
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Exposure to asynchronous messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka and AWS SQS/SNS
• Solid understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, including complex queries
• Exposure to S3 Data Lake
• Familiarity with AWS services, Docker, EKS, and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins
• Experience with JUnit and Mockito
• Foundational understanding of LLMs, embeddings, prompt engineering, and RAG patterns
• Exposure to or strong interest in agentic AI patterns, including tool-calling agents, multi-agent systems, planning/reasoning loops, and AI agent integrations with external tools/APIs
• Standard background verification (BGV) forms part of the selection process and is conducted with consent
