Role Title: Associate Software Engineer II

Position Summary:

Participates as a team member in the design, development, and maintenance of multi-tiered business applications. Individuals holding this position are frequently expected to work independently as a member of a team. Incumbents have some understanding of relevant technologies. This individual also participates fully in all team practices and standards. This role interfaces with IT colleagues and other stakeholders to evaluate defined complex business requirements and processes. Incumbents play a role in building application solutions which may involve diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies, and tools. Demonstrates personal accountability and participates in demonstrating team accountability. Supports quality efforts within the team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Analytics & Design: Analyzes impact of requirements and works with Senior Team Members on software solutions. Builds secure, maintainable, testable, and evolvable software. Participates in designing software solutions and prepares technical documentation. Participates in design reviews. Contributes to the product backlogs. Adopts Enterprise initiatives as required.
• Development: Estimation: Develops technical estimates and timeframes without having complete information and provide confidence level in estimate. Coding: Helps design and build business applications and prepares technical specifications to develop software solutions. Adopts FM Global best practices, architectural principles, and security standards. Develops software to transform and migrate data across environments. Actively participates in peer code reviews to learn and demonstrate code quality. Test Automation: Responsible for writing pre-deployment automated tests for own delivered code. Participates in testing and debugging of overall system as required. Reviews automated test code to ensure appropriate test coverage. Support: Supports effort to implement application in production and support post-production. Development work includes detailed, high quality documentation at appropriate level to allow for maintenance and support.
• Research: Participates in continuous improvement through experimentation to stay abreast of the changing technological landscape and presents value to the product organization. Engages in delivery of applicable enterprise initiatives. Participates within learning forums.
• Leadership: Continuously broadens technical capabilities and domain knowledge. Demonstrates teamwork and excellent communication. Provides meaningful feedback.

Skill and Experience:

• 1+ years of experience required to perform essential job functions.
• Additional Experience Qualifier (optional): 3+ years of application development experience with large scale business applications in fast-paced iterative development environment. 1+ years designing, developing, and implementing business applications from business concept through production.
• Object-oriented design, development, and implementation of business applications in current computing architectures.
• Knowledge of some of the relevant technologies preferred: front end tools, middleware,
• Databases, ORMs, development frameworks, design patterns, API design, Test Automation, DevOps, Cloud Architecture, and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
• Ability to demonstrate growth in good analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to develop accurate estimates. Strong interpersonal skills are required.
• Strong work ethic and ability to demonstrate personal accountability for successful product delivery.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work self-directed as part of a cross-functional team and shows commitment to the product and team.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and focuses on efficient delivery.

Must Have Skills:

• Enterprise SDLC: Experience with the full software development lifecycle in enterprise environments.
• Experience leveraging AI tooling in the Development of Software, example: GitHub Copilot.
• Programming Languages: Proficient in HTML, CSS, .NET, C#, Reactjs, and SQL.
• Cloud & Containerization: Skilled in cloud-native development and container technologies.
• Software Quality & Security: Understanding of software quality assurance, security principles, and best practices.
• Integration & Deployment: Experience with API design, REST APIs, GraphQL (a plus), unit testing, code reviews, refactoring, and deployment processes.
