Job summary

JPMorganChase in Mumbai is seeking a Software Engineer III to join an agile team within Consumer & Community Banking. You will design and deliver secure, scalable technology products and drive AI-powered capabilities, leveraging AWS and ML model integration.

You will implement robust production code, work across product, data, and engineering, and participate in code reviews, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of applied experience in software engineering.
• Experience in AI agent development and ML model lifecycle integration.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude/Copilot) and secure coding.
• Strong AWS services experience and cloud engineering best practices.
• SQL databases experience with optimization and relational modeling.
• Knowledge of SDLC, CI/CD, resiliency, and security controls.
• Capable of Track A (Python/Data Engineering) or Track B (Java Full Stack).

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine approaches to solve complex technical problems.
• Build secure, high-quality production code and scalable services, with strong focus on reliability, resiliency, and performance.
• Design and develop AI-powered capabilities, including AI agent-based workflows, and integrate ML models into production applications.
• Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assistants (Claude/Copilot) in day-to-day engineering activities (coding, refactoring, test generation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, testing, and secure coding practices.
• Develop and optimize cloud-native solutions on AWS, including backend services, data integrations, and platform components.
• Work with SQL databases to design schemas, write performant queries, and ensure data quality and consistency across systems.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts and ensure software implementations align with design constraints and enterprise standards.
• Collaborate across product, data, and engineering teams in agile delivery; participate in code reviews, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 4+ years of applied experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AI agent development and practical understanding of machine learning model lifecycle and integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools (Claude/Copilot) with the ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud engineering best practices.
• Solid experience with SQL databases, query optimization, and relational data modeling.
• Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle practices, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security controls.
• Must meet at least one of the following capability tracks:
  • Track A (Python/Data Engineering): Strong Python backend development with ETL/data pipeline experience using Spark/PySpark.
  • Track B (Java Full Stack): Strong Java backend development (e.g., Spring Boot) plus frontend development experience with React.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Exposure to public cloud technologies – AWS
• Experience implementingCI/CD and infrastructure automationusingTerraformplus pipeline/release tools such asJenkinsandSpinnaker.
• Knowledge of responsible AI practices, including secure data handling, traceability, and governance in regulated environments.
