Job description

SPEED & SPIRIT is what we look for in our candidates, defined by some simple values that inspire us to BE DRIVEN in our performance, BE VIBRANT in our sporting legacy, BE TOGETHER in our team spirit, and to let our individual talent and experience shine.

You will be part of the Core Commerce Platform organisation responsible for delivering the omnichannel commerce capabilities that power the purchase journey, inventory availability, delivery promise, order processing & fulfilment and post-purchase experiences across channels. The organisation plays a critical role in ensuring products are available to buy, orders can be fulfilled reliably, and commitments made to consumers are delivered consistently. Through a portfolio of commerce platform capabilities, the organisation enables seamless omnichannel experiences while supporting efficient, scalable, and resilient commerce operations across the global digital ecosystem.

As a Quality Engineer, you will design, automate and execute tests for Inventory, Promise and Order Fulfilment capabilities. Working closely with the Lead Engineer, Product Owner, Software Engineers and Engineering Manager, you will validate functional and non-functional requirements, contribute to CI/CD quality gates, and help deliver reliable consumer experiences.

What you will do:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and scenarios to validate inventory availability, order promising, sourcing, and fulfilment capabilities across distributed commerce platforms.
  • Develop automated and high-concurrency test scenarios to ensure oversell prevention mechanisms correctly reserve and allocate inventory when multiple orders compete for limited stock.
  • Identify, document and track defects, perform initial failure analysis, verify fixes and maintain appropriate regression coverage.
  • Validate sourcing and fulfilment optimization logic, ensuring routing decisions appropriately balance cost, delivery speed, inventory utilization, node capacity, and markdown-avoidance objectives.
  • Validate cache refresh and invalidation mechanisms triggered by inventory-changing events to prevent stale availability data and reduce overselling risk.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and contribute to quality gates and release-readiness evidence.
  • Apply risk-based testing to prioritise validation according to consumer impact, transaction risk and change complexity.
  • Build and maintain API, integration, and contract testing suites for OMS integrations with WMS, ERP, POS, payment providers, and 3PL/carrier systems.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner, Lead Engineer and Software Engineers to understand requirements, identify test scenarios and execute the agreed testing approach.

Your talent:

  • 4+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, test automation or software quality assurance, preferably within commerce, order management, inventory or supply-chain platforms.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated tests for APIs, microservices and event-driven systems.
  • Experience with Java and relevant automation frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, REST Assured, Selenium, Playwright or equivalent.
  • Experience with API, integration, contract and regression testing.
  • Understanding of inventory concepts such as availability, reservations, allocation, ATP or ATS.
  • Experience validating business-rule-driven workflows such as order promising, sourcing or fulfilment will be an advantage.
  • Understanding of concurrency and data-consistency risks, with experience testing transactional or high-volume systems.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and contributing to quality gates.
  • Experience with test-data management, defect investigation and failure analysis.
  • Understanding of reliability, scalability, resilience and performance testing considerations for distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted test generation, intelligent regression testing or AI-native quality engineering practices.
  • Experience with cross-browser or cross-device testing tools such as BrowserStack or equivalent will be an advantage.
