Job summary

DigitalOcean in Bengaluru, India, is hiring a Software Engineer II for the Audit Logging & Security Visibility team. You will build and maintain audit logging pipelines, implementing features in Go and collaborating across IAM, Threat Detection, and Platform teams.

You will work with distributed systems concepts, stream processing, and security telemetry to improve logging quality and real-time access for customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Go or a strong background in a typed systems language.
• Understanding of distributed systems, latency, replication, and failure modes.
• Exposure to streaming or messaging systems (Kafka, Flink, or similar) is a plus.
• Experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes) and Terraform is a plus.

• Build & Extend: Implement features and fixes across audit/telemetry pipelines in Go.
• Contribute to SIEM integrations with Splunk, Datadog, Chronicle, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Support the Audit Log Platform ensuring accuracy, retention, and real-time access.
• Collaborate with IAM, Threat Detection, and Platform teams to fit broader goals.
• Identify and remediate gaps in logging coverage and data quality.

We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Audit Logging & Security Visibility team. This team builds the systems that record and surface security-relevant activity across DigitalOcean's cloud platform, so customers and internal teams can detect threats, investigate incidents, and prove compliance.

In this role, you will contribute meaningfully to building and maintaining our audit logging pipelines. You will work within established technical patterns, implement features against well-scoped designs, and grow your expertise in distributed systems and security engineering. What You'll Do

• Build & Extend: Implement features and bug fixes across our audit and telemetry pipelines in Go, working within established architectural patterns.
• Contribute to SIEM Integrations: Help build and maintain integrations with Splunk, Datadog, Chronicle, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Support the Audit Log Platform: Work on features that keep audit records accurate, retained correctly, and accessible in real time.
• Learn & Grow: Partner with senior engineers to build your understanding of streaming systems, security telemetry, and audit compliance — taking on more ownership over time.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with teammates across IAM, Threat Detection, and Platform teams to understand how your work fits into the broader platform.
• Security First: Proactively identify and help remediate gaps in logging coverage and event data quality.

What You'll Add To DigitalOcean

• Experience: 3-5 years of software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in building and shipping production services.
• Language Proficiency: Proficiency in Go, or a strong background in another typed systems language with demonstrated ability to ramp quickly.
• Systems Thinking: Understanding of how distributed systems work - replication, latency trade-offs, failure modes - and curiosity to go deeper.
• Streaming Exposure: Some exposure to streaming or messaging systems (Kafka, Flink, or similar) is a plus, not a requirement.
• Cloud Native: Exposure to containerized environments (Kubernetes) and SQL databases; experience with Terraform is a plus.
• Communication: Ability to clearly document your work, ask good questions, and collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to OpenTelemetry or OCSF.
• Familiarity with gRPC microservices architecture.
• Prior experience working on security-sensitive or compliance-adjacent systems.
