Job summary

Quantum Corp. is seeking a Senior HCI Software Engineer to own the core software stack unifying compute, storage and networking into a single platform.

You will integrate hypervisors and container runtimes, enable live migration, and drive QoS enforcement across a scalable HCI environment. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in systems software, deep experience with C/C++, Go or Python, and hands‑on work with KVM, Kubernetes and NVMe‑oF.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems or infrastructure software development using C/C++, Go, Python, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the core HCI software stack, including distributed resource scheduler, software‑defined storage engine, and virtual networking fabric.
• Profile and optimize resource contention across compute, storage, and network layers, using technologies such as iSCSI, NVMe‑oF, SR‑IOV, and DPDK.
• Implement features for fault tolerance and self‑healing, including node failure detection, live VM migration, distributed snapshot management, and self‑healing storage policies.
• Develop and extend integrations with hypervisors (KVM, VMware, Hyper‑V) and container runtimes (Kubernetes, Docker) to enable seamless workload placement, live migration, and QoS enforcement.
• Ensure linear scalability as nodes are added, automating data rebalancing, capacity expansion, and rolling software upgrades.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems or infrastructure software development using C/C++, Go, Python, or equivalent.
• Experience with hypervisors (KVM, VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift) – plus.
• Experience with software‑defined networking (OVS, VXLAN, BGP) and Linux networking stack – plus.
• Experience with HCI platforms such as Nutanix AOS, VMware vSAN, or Azure Stack HCI – plus.
• Experience with AI/ML infrastructure workloads and GPU resource management – plus.
• Experience with cloud integration (AWS Outposts, Azure Arc, Google Anthos) and hybrid cloud architectures – plus.
• Ability to work in a team environment, communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences, and collaborate cross‑functionally.
• Self‑motivated, able to identify and solve problems independently, and willing to pursue creative solutions.

Desired Skills

• Linux OS administration, including kernel tuning, performance profiling (perf, eBPF), and HCI node lifecycle management.
• Experience using GIT and JIRA.
