Job summary

BitGo is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design and build scalable APIs and services for our API-first platform. You will own functionality from inception to deployment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ship new features and document APIs for UI and developers.

The role emphasizes robust backend systems, performance, and mentorship, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge crypto infrastructure and services.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of back-end/server-side development experience.
• Strong algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
• Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Strong RESTful API design experience.
• Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with unit and functional testing, debugging, Git/GitHub, branching methodologies, code review tools, and CI tools.
• Ability to move quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

Responsibilities

• Identify and correct bottlenecks, fix bugs, and continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand and refine product requirements.
• Provide mentorship to peers through code reviews and education on best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis skills.
• Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Strong RESTful API design experience.
• Experience with microservices and service‑oriented architectures.
• Experience with unit and functional testing, debugging, Git/GitHub, branching methodologies, code review tools, and CI tools.
• Ability to move quickly and adjust course in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or another technical discipline from a top university.
• Understanding of and strong interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

Preferred

• Experience developing consumer‑facing crypto products.
• Proven experience building public‑facing APIs in a production environment.
• Ability to work full‑stack and familiarity with React.
• Experience working with clients and/or business partners.
• Familiarity with digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, trading, accounting systems, or related domains.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending upon your leveling and location, the compensation for this role averages between $160,000 – $200,000 USD base salary. Equity, an annual performance bonus, and the benefits outlined below are also part of this role’s package.
