Job description

Our story is a classic American entrepreneurial journey, born from a simple, unmet need identified by an athlete. In 1996, founder Kevin Plank, then captain of the University of Maryland football team, set out to solve the problem of sweat-soaked cotton shirts by creating a moisture-wicking synthetic alternative. That innovation - HeatGear - redefined the athletic base layer and laid the foundation for what is today a global leader in performance apparel, footwear, and accessories.

Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, Under Armour is driven by a clear mission - to make all athletes better. This relentless pursuit of better defines who we are, shaping our focus on performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

OUR PURPOSE:

Building on this global foundation, Under Armour India is purpose‑built to access India’s top-tier talent and embed the brand’s culture into scalable, tech‑driven solutions. At its core, this is about empowering those who strive for more – a belief reflected in our values: Act Sustainably, Celebrate the Wins, Fight on Together, Love Athletes, and Stand for Equality.

These values serve as a shared framework that guides how we think, build, and collaborate. They connect teams across geographies, reinforce our purpose, and ensure that everything we do is aligned to a common goal – enabling better outcomes for athletes and the business.

At Under Armour India, this translates into an environment where individuals have the freedom to go further, regardless of role. Teams are empowered to develop and deliver state‑of‑the‑art products and digital solutions that enhance performance and drive impact at scale.

VALUES & INNOVATION:

Across Under Armour globally, our values act as the thread that unites every teammate, shaping a culture grounded in purpose, accountability, and shared ambition. They are not just principles, but active drivers of how we operate, innovate, and grow together.

This culture is deeply anchored in innovation - a continuous pursuit of better that pushes boundaries and challenges convention. Whether through product innovation or digital transformation, teams are enabled to create solutions that elevate performance and redefine possibilities for athletes everywhere.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
  • The Software Engineer - Data & AI Platform owns the design, development, deployment, and operational excellence of complex data ingestion and transformation domains within the enterprise cloud data platform.
  • This role builds scalable, high-volume data pipelines while elevating technical standards across development and deployment practices. You are accountable not only for delivering production-ready solutions, but for ensuring they are reliable, secure, performant, and aligned with enterprise governance and AI-readiness requirements.
  • You serve as a technical leader within the engineering team who guides architectural decisions within your domain, influencing best practices, and mentoring engineers while remaining deeply hands‑on in building and optimizing data products that power Analytics, AI, and Automation across global business functions.
  • You partner closely with Global IT, Business Stakeholders, Data Governance, Security & Privacy, AI & Automation Engineers, Data Analysts, Marketing Technology, and FinOps to translate evolving business needs into scalable, compliant, and cost‑efficient platform capabilities.
  • You continuously apply modern DevOps and GenAI-assisted engineering practices to enhance solution quality, accelerate delivery, and strengthen the long‑term resilience of the platform.
YOUR IMPACT (Job Responsibilities):
  • Design, build, and optimize scalable ELT pipelines using Snowflake, dbt Cloud, AWS Glue, Airflow, and Fivetran (CDC/log-based replication).
  • Own complex ingestion and transformation domains end-to-end, including architectural design, performance tuning, and production reliability.
  • Write high-performance, production-grade SQL and Python integrated into automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Apply advanced data integration techniques to support enterprise analytics, data sharing, AI use cases, and self-service data products.
  • Lead ingestion and integration efforts across enterprise systems such as SAP, Salesforce, and various specialized global technology data sources.
  • Establish and enforce data engineering and data security design patterns, coding standards, and deployment best practices.
  • Partner with Global IT, Data Governance, Security & Privacy, AI & Automation Engineers, Data Analysts, FinOps, and business stakeholders to influence scalable and secure solution design.
  • Serve as technical lead during development and deployment cycles, guiding implementation decisions and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Act as escalation point for high-impact production incidents within assigned domains and participate in a responsive on-call rotation process to resolve critical production issues as needed upholding data contract SLAs.
  • Drive improvements in data quality, observability instrumentation, and reliability engineering practices.
  • Apply and champion GenAI-assisted engineering workflows to improve development velocity, automated testing, and data product quality.
  • Continuously improve platform and data pipeline performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
