Job summary

Cisco is seeking a senior software engineer to shape the IIoT device management strategy in Bengaluru. You will design and deploy features that integrate ruggedized devices, sensors, and networking gear to collect and analyze industrial data.

You’ll lead cross-functional collaboration to improve operational efficiency and security. You will contribute to AI-assisted development, scalable services, and a streamlined user experience for OT customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience with full-stack focus.
• Experience in modern frontend frameworks (ReactJS/Angular) and backend (Java/Python/Golang).
• Design and consumption of RESTful APIs; database modeling with MongoDB/Cassandra or relational DBs.
• Familiarity with IT/OT convergence and industrial networks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive an AI-first development approach by integrating AI-assisted coding tools and ML models into the SDLC.
• Develop and maintain high-performance, scalable services (Full stack: Java, Python, or Golang; React/Angular) for IIoT device management.
• Collaborate with UX, product, and backend teams to translate requirements into technical specs and UX.
• Establish standard front-end and back-end development processes, including code reviews and testing.
• Participate actively in an agile environment with sprint planning and continuous delivery.

In this role, you will work as a senior engineer to develop Cisco's IIoT management strategy, prioritizing a streamlined user experience for network and security management to help customers effectively manage their critical industrial networks. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of various features that integrate ruggedized devices, sensors, applications, and networking equipment to collect, monitor, and analyze industrial operational data. Your work will drive innovation to improve operational efficiency, safety, and security in industrial environments by leveraging Cisco's IIoT technologies and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive an AI-first development approach by integrating AI-assisted coding tools and machine learning models into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to automate routine tasks, improve code quality, and accelerate feature delivery.
• Develop and maintain high-performance, scalable services (using Full stack - Java, Python, or Golang, React JS, Angular) that integrate seamlessly with our IIoT device management platforms.
• Partner with UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and sophisticated user experiences.
• Drive standard processes in front-end and back-end development, including code reviews, unit testing, and performance optimization to ensure low-latency and high-throughput applications.
• Actively participate in an agile development environment, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and the continuous delivery of software solutions.

Required Skills And Experience

• 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on full-stack development and sophisticated web application architecture.
• Deep proficiency in modern frontend technologies, specifically ReactJS or Angular, with a strong understanding of state management, component architecture, and web performance optimization.
• Backend expertise with solid experience in backend development using Java, Python, or Golang, including the design and consumption of RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with database modeling and technologies such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or relational databases.
• Understanding of IT/OT convergence and the outstanding challenges of managing industrial networks is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• A strong passion for continuous learning, staying current with emerging web technologies, and applying them to solve real‑world industrial problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding and testing workflows.
