Job description

As a Software Engineer at R3, you will have a product mindset, building platforms for the future world financial system. You’ll be part of our multidisciplinary engineering team, where you will build end-to-end deployable distributed services and work closely with Principal Engineers, Product Managers, Solutions Architects, and Application Engineers.

You will be responsible for building large-scale distributed systems and architecture for our platform. The platform spans over multiple services/microservices and networks which run on fully container orchestrated environments. You will play a key role in building the product that is innovating financial technology products for large economies. We aim to have a fast, agile, and automated product engineering philosophy that will provide a safe and secure experience to our users.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver the product and technical roadmap items aligning to customer and stakeholder needs plus feedback and build trust with them.
• Ship changes to our platform within the first week by taking complete ownership around end-to-end quality and performance.
• Collaborate with fellow engineers within the team and organization, by reading and reviewing technical plans/architecture and contributing to technical discussions with a scale to serve millions of users.
• Keep a flexible mindset and a willingness to learn. This will be your chance to be an integral part of a team, learn, and grow with it.
• Write Java/Kotlin code, which knits together with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) that forms the core of our platform.
• Independently deliver small to medium-sized pieces of software to a production standard.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in a software engineering role, preferably building a SaaS or Platform product.
• Experience collaborating effectively in a cross-disciplinary team setup interacting directly with Product Managers, Solutions Architects, and Application Engineers.
• Depth of expertise in high-level programming languages (Java/Kotlin/Python, etc.) with a basic understanding of managing infrastructure, containerization, and deployments.
• Experience in developing Distributed Systems and Microservices.
• Experience owning delivery of software increments, end-to-end by writing and owning tests.

Nice to haves:

• Basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Helm, Terraform, or alternative solutions.
• Familiarity with basics of Kubernetes concepts.
• Understanding of Identity and Access Management solutions will have brownie points.
