Job summary

Gus Global Services (GGS), the Indian subsidiary of Global University Systems, is seeking a Software Engineer who leads the technical delivery of our edtech platforms. The role demands ownership, speed, and the ability to drive product velocity while shaping engineering culture.

You will build and optimize large-scale distributed services, ensure 24/7 uptime, and mentor teams in crafting high-performance code with a focus on AI-driven development and secure data handling.

Qualifications

• Experience in schema and distributed system design, performance tuning, and cloud-based best practices.
• Hands-on experience of building and improving a high scale D2C, B2B, attribution applications, order management systems, product catalog.

Responsibilities

• Lead to Build: Work with product, design and other stakeholders for understanding of requirements and turn them into architectural and design plans with implementation roadmap.
• Ensure High Availability: Own the delivery of i/o optimized low latency APIs and DB Schema that supports 24/7 uptime and exponential scalability
• Champion Agentic Engineering: Drive an Agentic-first approach to solution design, utilizing AI-driven development (AIDD) to solve complex engineering hurdles.
• Optimize Daily: Identify bottlenecks in queries, execution plans, and overall system design to ensure a low-latency end-user experience.
• Collaborate and Mentor: Work across functional teams to fine-tune system health and guide developers in writing efficient, high-performance code.
• Security: Implement Security Principles and PII Compliance within the application schema and access policies.
• System Design: Architect, develop, and sustain large scale distributed platform services.
• Mentorship: Provide hands-on technical leadership: software design and development, coding, debugging complex issues, prototyping new features and reviewing code for quality.
• Data Driven: Keep a focus on the usage/metrics of the owned services and be super customer focused.

About the Role

You will manage the technical delivery of our edtech platforms, making critical daily decisions on engine fine-tuning and system scalability. What Will You Do?

The Software Engineer will:

What Must You Bring?

• Technical Depth: Experience in schema and distributed system design, performance tuning, and cloud-based best practices.
• Product Experience – handson experience of building and improving a high scale D2C, B2B, attribution applications, order management systems, product catalog,
• Hands-on Expertise: Deep expertise of LLD, HLD, ACID, caching, distributed system design, DBMS, Garbage Collector, microservices, VM, K8S, data pipelines, kafka, nsqd,
• 0-to-1 Mindset: A proven ability to navigate the challenges and pace of early-stage product journeys.
• Observability Focus: Experience setting up monitoring frameworks to proactively identify slow-running processes and blocking issues.
• Modern Workflow: Mastery of Git-based workflows, including rigorous PR reviews and configuration management.
• Performance Tooling: Expertise in leveraging Profilers and Performance Insights to assist teams in tuning complex stored procedures.

What Skills Must You Have

• Core Tech: Golang, Python, .Net, kafka, nsqd, redis, elasticsearch, mongoDB, Unit Test, HTTP/TCP, nginx, MCP, AIDD, AIRD, Mobile First APIs
• AI Tooling: Advanced expertise in Cursor and Windsurf for AI-driven development and code generation.
• Architecture: Strong grasp of micro-service scalable architecture and asset hosting for edge performance.
• Scale: Practical skills in database partitioning, sharding, and query optimization.
• Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS/Azure ecosystems, Linux Kernels, and automated backup/DR strategies.
• Process: Expertise in Sprints and SDLC Management to maintain high velocity without sacrificing quality.
