Job summary

Barracuda Networks in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop scalable backend systems in C/C++/Perl and integrate AI features. You will work with product managers, customers, and developers to design, test, and deliver new capabilities in a fast-paced environment.

You will contribute to on-premises and cloud-based security appliances, participate in code reviews, and mentor more junior engineers while upholding high coding standards.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of software development experience in PERL/C/C++
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and MySQL databases
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub workflows
• Strong debugging skills using GDB and Strace
• Knowledge of Linux and networking protocols (SMTP, DNS, TLS)
• Familiarity with Agile software development lifecycle

We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our cross functional Agile team.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge on-premises appliance based and cloud-based email security products. You will be working closely with product managers, customers, and developers to design, develop, test, and deliver new and innovative features in a continuous delivery model. What You'll Be Working On:

• Designing, developing, and optimizing robust backend systems using C/C++/PERL and other languages, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Guiding and mentoring junior developers, enforcing best practices, and promoting technical excellence within the team.
• Collaborating with product managers, customers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into cutting-edge solutions.
• Conducting thorough code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to high coding standards.
• Staying ahead of industry trends and technologies, influencing architectural decisions and technology roadmaps.
• Contributing to a supportive and inclusive team culture that values diverse perspectives and fosters creativity.
• Integrating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities into our systems to drive automation, intelligent threat detection, and advanced product features.

What You Bring to the Role:

• Experience: 3 to 5+ years in software development in PERL/C/C++
• Database Proficiency: Strong knowledge of SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL, including optimization techniques.
• DevOps and CI/CD: Experience with continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and version control systems like GitHub.
• Debugging Skills: Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting using tools such as GDB, and Strace.
• System Knowledge: Familiarity with Linux operating systems and networking protocols (e.g., SMTP, DNS, TLS).
• Development Practices: Understanding of Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
• Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, AJAX) is advantageous.
  • Experience in email security, cloud-connected appliances, or network security is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Perl, Python, or Bash.
  • Familiarity with Golang is a plus
• AI Integration: Proven experience integrating AI/ML technologies into production environments, including working with LLMs, crafting effective prompts, or utilizing AI APIs to solve complex engineering problems.
