Job summary

Docusign is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Bengaluru reporting team. You will design and implement backend features, work on data-heavy services, and thrive in an agile, fast-paced environment.

You will own end-to-end feature delivery, participate in on-call rotations, review peers’ code and designs, and help improve system reliability and testing. A Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering and experience with Java, Python, Go, Docker, and Kubernetes are required.

• 5+ years of related experience in software engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent.
• Strong programming fundamentals and modern languages.
• Experience with production features, testing, and code reviews.
• Hands-on with CI/CD, cloud, containers, and monitoring.

What you'll do

As an engineer on the reporting team, we expect you to have a good understanding of everything data, as well as back-end code development. Your day to day work will involve owning the designing and execution of medium complexity features. This position will demand critical thinking skills, ability to quickly understand existing systems and the ability to work in agile, fast paced environments. The ability to take smart and educated risks is essential to the success of this position. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering.

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation) Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. What you bring

Basic

• 5+ years of related experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience with one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Go, Python) and solid computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, system design)
• Experience developing and delivering production features with high-quality code and reliable tests (unit, component, contract, integration, end-to-end, performance); designs for testability
• Experience participating in code reviews and adhering to team guidelines and best practices
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines; able to debug pipeline issues and analyze system logs
• Experience with public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP), containers (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Experience with monitoring, metrics, and logging; capable of building basic telemetry for features
• Experience participating in on-call using service runbooks/SOPs and performing root cause analysis with minimal guidance

Preferred

• Comfort working across multiple components and with external dependencies in complex environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with cross-functional partners
• Track record of independently owning and delivering features end-to-end
• Experience authoring and owning testing plans for features and identifying patterns in test failures
• Experience contributing to and improving deployment pipelines and test automation systems
• Experience designing for scalability, reliability, and performance; writes extensible, shareable code and raises the bar through thoughtful code reviews
• Experience defining useful metrics/targets and measurably improving engineering processes and best practices
• Exposure to distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs, and/or event-driven architectures
• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, performance testing, and optimization
• Comfortable collaborating in a global, distributed team and working across time zones
