Job summary

WEX Benefits Technology is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a product-focused engineering team that partners with Product Managers and customers to understand employer challenges and to build high-quality software using modern technologies and TDD practices.

You will hire and groom engineers, help define technology and product roadmaps, and drive delivery of complex projects on schedule while promoting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficient with Angular and/or React; REST APIs; unit tests.
• Understanding of OWASP security guidelines; Git with CI/CD.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Ability to deliver complex projects on schedule.
• Experience in writing performant stored procedures and functions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Managers and customers to understand challenges.
• Design, code, test, and instrument new solutions.
• Mentor engineers and drive learning within the team.

As a Software Engineering manager on the WEX Benefits Technology team, you will lead a team that partners closely with Product Managers and customers to learn about the challenges employers face while navigating the competitive employee benefits landscape. You will design solutions that solve problems in ways our customers love and work for our business. You will build the highest quality software in the latest technologies and test driven development practices.

You will hire and groom engineers, work with stakeholders to define technology and product roadmaps.

• Hold your team accountable for delivering quality results using defined OKRs.
• Interact with Senior Managers to discuss plans, results, and advise on complex matters.

Experience You’ll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; OR demonstrable equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Passionate about keeping up with modern technologies and design.
• Strong proficiency in Angular and/or React
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs
• Proven track record of writing comprehensive unit tests and test suites
• Strong understanding of software security principles and OWASP guidelines
• Proficiency with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Track record of delivering complex projects on schedule
• Experience in writing performant stored procedures and functions

Technology Must-Haves

• Hands on C#, Python (if applicable)
• Docker
• Modern RDBMS (i.e. MS SQL, Postgres, MySQL)
