Job summary

Amazon seeks a Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers in the Store Acceleration Tech space at our Bangalore center. You will own architecture and end-to-end delivery, partner with PMs and customers, and drive long-term technical solutions across high-scale systems.

You will mentor engineers, manage growth, and shape the development of multiple initiatives while balancing reliability with new features to support rapid growth and enterprise needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage a team of 8–10 engineers within SAT, guiding diverse initiatives and delivering long-term technical solutions.
• Drive roadmap execution for your tech area in collaboration with Product Management and customers.

Software Development Manager, WWGST, Store Acceleration Tech

As Software Development Manager, you will develop a deep understanding of our business, partner with development teams in multiple locations, and own the architecture and end-to-end delivery of software systems. As leader in WWGS for our new development center in Bangalore India, you own managing a software engineering team, recruiting and developing talent, and creating a culture that demonstrates our leadership values. You will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers responsible for supporting numerous clients across the enterprise. The successful candidate will look at the big picture from business and technical perspectives and will have proven experience balancing sustaining and stability environment with new development to support the growing scale and deliver org vision.

Key job responsibilities

What will you own?

• You will own managing a team of 8-10 engineers within SAT. Your primary responsibility is to manage diverse initiatives and enable your team to deliver long term technical solves
• You will own roadmap execution for your tech area, in close collaboration with Product Management and customer
• You are responsible for driving innovation and next-gen solution vision for your area in collaboration with Sr SDEs and PEs
• You are responsible for managing growth of SDEs reporting to you through structured performance management and career growth plan

What interesting engineering problem will you solve?

• You will own complex systems that enable critical store operation to function autonoumously
• You will own building high scalable systems that can handle billions of transactions
• You drive supply chain architectural evolution, while getting the opportunity to influence tech decisions across multiple orgs

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of engineering experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Bachelor's degree

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
