Job summary

Safe is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test III (SDET III) to lead a team of talented engineers responsible for functional testing across Safe’s product suite.

This is a hands-on leadership role: you will own the quality strategy and test infrastructure for your area, drive the adoption of AI across the entire test lifecycle – from test generation to maintenance to analysis – and take ownership of deploying the services your team tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of SDET experience with test automation frameworks (API, UI) and mentoring.
• Hands-on AI/LLMs across the test lifecycle and experience in containerized environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers responsible for functional testing across Safe’s products and services.
• Define and drive the functional testing strategy, standards, and test infrastructure.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test III (SDET III) to lead a team of talented engineers responsible for functional testing across Safe’s product suite. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will own the quality strategy and test infrastructure for your area, drive the adoption of AI across the entire test lifecycle – from test generation to maintenance to analysis – and take ownership of deploying the services your team tests. You will also be responsible for evaluating the accuracy and reliability of AI agents used in our testing and product workflows, ensuring the quality bar keeps pace with an increasingly AI-driven engineering organization.

Core Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing engineers responsible for functional testing across Safe’s products and services

• Testing Strategy & Infrastructure: Define and drive the functional testing strategy, standards, and best practices across the team, while owning the design, build-out, and ongoing maintenance of test infrastructure and environments to keep them reliable, scalable, and easy for the team to work with

• AI-Driven Testing & Evaluation: Champion the use of AI across the test lifecycle, including AI-assisted test case generation, automated/self-healing test maintenance, and AI-driven analysis of test results and failures, while evaluating, benchmarking, and continuously improving the accuracy and reliability of AI agents used in testing and quality workflows

• Deployment Ownership: Take ownership of deploying product services to production, ensuring appropriate quality gates and rollback plans are in place

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Design to align test coverage and release readiness with product and business priorities

• Code Review: Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain code quality, identify opportunities for improvement, and share constructive feedback with team members

• Cloud Expertise: Leverage AWS services, including but not limited to AWS Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, S3, and RDS, to architect and optimize cloud-based solutions

• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline

• 5+ years of experience in Software Development Engineering in Test roles, with a strong track record in building, scaling, and maintaining functional, API, and UI test automation frameworks, including experience leading or mentoring engineers

• Hands-on experience applying AI/LLMs across the test lifecycle – including AI-assisted test generation, automated/self-healing test maintenance, and AI-driven analysis of test results and failures – along with the analytical skills to evaluate and improve the accuracy and reliability of AI agents

• Experience standing up and maintaining test infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines in containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes), and owning deployment/release processes for production services

• Strong programming skills in one or more of Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
