Job summary

Expedia Group in India (Gurugram) is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and operate Java-based services for core lodging reservations. You will migrate from monoliths to Spring Boot microservices, own API design, data modeling, and optimize for reliability and scale.

The role requires 6+ years of backend experience with Java, plus practical AWS deployment, observability with Datadog/Splunk, and familiarity with AI/ML tools in development workflows.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on backend engineering using Java in production environments.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing backend services, including system design, API contracts, and data modeling for RDBMS-backed applications.
• Practical exposure to at least one major cloud platform (preferably AWS) for deploying, running, and monitoring backend services at scale.
• Demonstrated responsibility for owning backend components in production, including monitoring, logging, and alerting systems such as Datadog or Splunk.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems/tools and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products in backend development, testing, or operations.
