Job summary

OnMeta is hiring a mobile engineer to own the app end to end. You will take a feature from development to testing to build to a live release on Android and iOS, with no separate release team behind you.

You will ship more than many engineers in five years at a large company, collaborating with product, design, backend, and QA, and you will follow Git workflows and code reviews to ensure quality and performance on low-end devices.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of hands-on production experience with React Native or React.js.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and Firebase (Crashlytics).
• Hands-on experience generating and deploying Android and iOS builds.
• Solid debugging and Git workflows experience.
• Proof of work: live app, GitHub repo, or TestFlight build.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the app in React Native across Android and iOS, with React.js for web surfaces where needed.
• Build responsive, reusable UI components that work on low-end devices.
• Integrate REST APIs, Firebase, and third-party services; handle state, authentication, push notifications, deep linking.
• Monitor crashes with Firebase Crashlytics and optimize performance and stability.
• Manage Android and iOS builds end to end: signing, certificates, provisioning profiles, and release configs.
• Deploy to Google Play Store and Apple App Store and own app launches/releases.
• Collaborate with product, design, backend, and QA; follow Git workflows and code reviews.

Our user is getting their first daily usable finance app for savings, on a budget device and a patchy network. When the app stutters, they do not file a bug. They uninstall and go back to cash. Building for them is a harder engineering problem than building for users who forgive.

What you will do

• Integrate REST APIs, Firebase, and third-party services; handle state management, authentication, push notifications, and deep linking.
• Monitor crashes through Firebase Crashlytics, debug from the trace, and optimize for performance and stability.
• Manage Android and iOS builds end to end: signing, certificates, provisioning profiles, and release configurations using Android Studio, Xcode, Gradle, and CocoaPods.
• Deploy to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and own app launches and releases.
• Work directly with product, design, backend, and QA; follow Git workflows and participate in code reviews.

Must have

• 1+ years of hands‑on production experience with React Native or React.js.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and Firebase, including Crashlytics.
• Hands‑on experience generating and deploying Android and iOS builds.
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills, and a solid grasp of Git workflows.
• Proof of work. Something you shipped that we can see: a live app, a GitHub repo, or a TestFlight build.

Good to have

• Next.js experience.
• CI/CD and automated build pipelines.
• App Store and Play Store release management.
• Native module integration (Kotlin/Java for Android, Swift/Objective-C for iOS) for when JavaScript is not enough.
