The candidate will participate in full software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality software and reliable production systems that meet demanding scale and accuracy requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable software solutions that calculate taxes accurately and efficiently across Amazon's global operations, handling millions of service requests per minute.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions that meet tax compliance standards worldwide.
• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality distributed system software using software engineering best practices and modern development methodologies.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design reviews, code reviews, documentation, testing, and operational support of production systems.
• Contribute to system reliability and performance by monitoring production metrics, identifying optimization opportunities, and implementing improvements to ensure our services meet demanding scale and accuracy requirements.

Our services operate at scale, enables thousands of software development teams across Amazon to get started with using solutions across Amazon rapidly by providing intuitive UX, well defined support mechanisms and engagement options.

We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented, inventive Software Development Engineer to refine and deliver our grand vision, design and implement technical solutions useful for teams across Amazon. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment, understands service-oriented architecture, and will help us help the business innovate quickly at scale.

Successful candidates will have a proven track record of developing highly distributed systems using Agile and incremental delivery methods.
