This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Development Engineer 1 based in India (Remote).

As a Software Development Engineer 1, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of reliable, scalable, and maintainable software solutions. You will work across the software development lifecycle, translating business requirements into effective technical solutions that deliver measurable customer and business value. In a collaborative, cross-functional environment, you will help strengthen engineering practices by promoting automation, continuous delivery, and shared ownership. You will leverage your programming expertise to build high-quality backend and full-stack components while optimizing application performance and reliability. You will also contribute to system integration, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers an opportunity to develop your technical expertise, solve meaningful engineering challenges, and make a tangible impact while working remotely with diverse teams.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software components using Java, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies, following established coding standards and continuous delivery practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle to understand requirements and deliver reliable, cost-effective, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Build and maintain backend and full-stack applications, applying object-oriented programming principles and established design patterns to create modular and efficient software.
• Design database schemas, develop optimized queries, and integrate relational databases such as MySQL and Oracle, as well as NoSQL data solutions.
• Apply appropriate data structures and algorithms to solve complex technical problems, improve application performance, and minimize latency.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure software quality, maintain adequate test coverage, and reduce production deficits.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions to encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement in engineering standards.
• Support live applications by troubleshooting issues, monitoring system performance, responding to incidents, and implementing automation and self-recovery mechanisms where appropriate.
• Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to promote integrated engineering practices, shared accountability, and efficient software delivery.
• Analyze existing systems, workflows, and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks, establish relevant KPIs, and recommend improvements to delivery speed, reliability, and overall efficiency.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, cloud-based environments, configuration management, release processes, and system integration activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in software engineering and software delivery, with a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in Java and JavaScript, with working knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python.
• Familiarity with Java development frameworks, including Spring Boot or Hibernate, and experience applying object-oriented programming concepts such as abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, including arrays, linked lists, trees, graphs, hashing, sorting, and searching.
• Understanding of software design principles, design patterns, clean coding practices, and the development of scalable, secure, and maintainable applications.
• Experience with or exposure to cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure, along with CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery practices.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, SQL query optimization, data modeling, and application-to-database integrations.
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies, quality assurance practices, requirements management, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate technical issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and participate constructively in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, take ownership of assigned tasks, and contribute to shared engineering goals.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, configuration management, application monitoring, release management, and deployment automation is an advantage.
