Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai invites an experienced technical marketing engineer for Mission Critical telecommunication solutions. You will enable global pre-sales and sales with technical market insights, supporting HVDC projects through analysis, simulations and protection function development.

The role requires a bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics with 5–8 years in protection/control, proficiency in PSCAD/MATLAB, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with 5–8 years in Control and Protection systems.
• Knowledge of PSCAD, MATLAB or other simulation software; basic knowledge of IEEE/IEC standards.
• MS Office: Word and Excel proficiency.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail; self-starter who can own tasks to completion.
• Experience in technical tender support, bidding, substation environment and protection applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt HVDC Base Control & Protection Software (MACH) for Global Projects.
• Develop control and protection functions/solutions for future HVDC technologies.
• Perform power system protection/control studies using EMT tools per project requirements.
• Help resolve issues related to control and protection functions.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across business units to optimize HVDC solutions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

The Opportunity

The technical marketing engineer for Mission Critical telecommunication Solutions (MCS) has the global responsibility to enable the Pre-Sales & Sales community of the different regional HUBs to understand technical market requirements for wired telecommunication networks and ensure customer interaction in line with global solution/product strategy. Support sales organizations in driving sales by your technical expertise. Provide relevant customer & market inputs to product management and R&D activities, ensuring market alignment and relevance.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Support Global Projects by adapting HVDC Base Control & Protection Software (MACH).
• Develop Control and Protection Functions / Solutions for future HVDC technologies.
• Perform Power system protection / control studies using EMT tool based on project requirements to optimise fault detection algorithms and setting philosophies.
• Support projects in resolving the issues related to Control and Protection Functions.
• Coordinate with different stakeholders across the business units to get inputs to optimise the HVDC solutions.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics with a minimum work experience of 5 TO 8 years in Control and Protection system.
• You must have Knowledge & Skills in PSCAD, MATLAB, or any other Simulation Software, basic knowledge on IEEE / IEC standards.
• Knowledge & Experience MS Office: Word, Excel.
• Preferred experience from HVDC System. Digital signal processing, Analog circuits and digital circuits experience is preferred.
• Experience in technical tender support or bidding, experience in substation environment and protection application are preferred.
• Self-starter caliber who could own tasks through to completion.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
