Intellect Design Arena Ltd is seeking a technology‑first Head of Engineering to lead the Trade and Supply Chain Finance engineering charter, guiding architecture, development and platform scalability.

The role requires a strong product‑engineering leader with deep hands‑on experience in microservices, API‑first design and cloud‑native technologies, and the ability to shape architecture and the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of technology/engineering experience in Banking/BFSI.
• 15+ years of Banking/Technology experience preferred.
• Direct experience in Trade Finance and/or Supply Chain Finance.
• Proven product engineering/build experience with scalable platforms.
• Strong understanding of microservices, API design and distributed systems.
• AWS/cloud and cloud-native application development experience.
• Strong foundation in Java and open-source technologies.

Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end engineering charter for Trade and Supply Chain Finance products (architecture, development, quality, scalability).
• Define and drive the engineering and technology roadmap aligned with product strategy.
• Make architecture and technology decisions ensuring scalability, security and maintainability.
• Drive evolution toward microservices, API-first and cloud-native architectures.
• Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams with deep technical depth.
• Drive engineering excellence across design, standards, DevSecOps, automation, testing and release quality.
• Lead AWS-based/cloud-native engineering and deployment practices.
• Promote adoption of Java, Python and open‑source technologies across the stack.

A technology-first engineering leader who combines deep technical credibility with the ability to lead engineering at scale. The individual should be capable of challenging architecture decisions, driving product engineering excellence and building modern, scalable banking technology platforms.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the technology and engineering charter for our Trade and Supply Chain Finance products.

The ideal candidate should be a strong product engineering leader with deep experience in building and scaling enterprise banking platforms. The role requires a solid engineering foundation, strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design and cloud-native technologies, and the ability to make critical architectural and technology decisions.

This is not purely a people-management role. We are looking for someone who has personally grown through engineering and product development and continues to remain close to architecture, technology and the product build lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end engineering charter for Trade and Supply Chain Finance products, covering architecture, development, engineering quality, scalability and technology evolution.
• Define and drive the engineering and technology roadmap aligned with product and business strategy.
• Own key architecture and technology decisions, ensuring scalability, performance, security, reliability and maintainability.
• Drive the evolution of products toward microservices, API-first and cloud-native architectures.
• Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams while maintaining strong technical depth and staying close to the engineering lifecycle.
• Drive engineering excellence across design, coding standards, DevSecOps, automation, testing, performance and release quality.
• Lead AWS-based/cloud-native engineering and deployment practices.
• Drive effective adoption of Java, Python and open-source technologies across the engineering stack.
• Partner closely with Product, Architecture, Delivery and Business teams to translate product strategy into scalable technology solutions.
• Identify opportunities to incorporate AI/ML and GenAI capabilities into product and engineering workflows.

Must-Have Experience

• 20+ years of overall technology/Banking/Engineering experience, with significant leadership experience.
• 15+ years of experience in Banking/BFSI technology.
• Strong preference for direct experience in Trade Finance and/or Supply Chain Finance technology/products
• Proven product engineering/build experience — must have built and scaled technology products, rather than primarily managing delivery or teams.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with AWS/cloud and cloud-native application development.
• Strong technology foundation in Java and open-source technologies.
• Demonstrated experience leading senior engineering teams and making enterprise-level architecture and technology decisions.

Good-to-Have

• Experience modernizing large or legacy banking platforms into cloud-native, API-led architectures.
• Understanding of Trade Finance ecosystems, integrations and banking platforms.
• Awareness of AI/ML and GenAI use cases and their application to banking products and engineering productivity.
