Job summary

BNY is seeking a Senior Vice President, Data Architect to join the Payments Enablement Engineering team in Pune. You will lead enterprise data architecture, design scalable data patterns, and mentor teams to deliver trusted data products for analytics, finance, and risk.

You’ll collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into robust cloud-based data solutions, ensuring governance, security, and regulatory alignment across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS/Engineering or a related discipline.
• 18+ years in data architecture, engineering, or related roles.
• Strong SQL and Python skills; expertise in data modeling (conceptual/ logical/ physical).
• Experience with Snowflake and Hadoop ecosystems; ETL/ELT patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise data architecture design across conceptual, logical, and physical models.
• Define scalable patterns for ingestion, transformation, storage, and distribution.
• Build data pipelines supporting analytics, finance, and risk needs.

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Data Architect to join our PAYMENTS ENABLEMENT ENGINEERING team. This role is located in Pune.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

• Lead the design of enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Define scalable architecture patterns for data ingestion, transformation, storage, integration, and distribution
• Build and optimize enterprise data pipelines to support reporting, analytics, finance, risk, regulatory, and operational use cases
• Establish and enforce standards for data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, and security
• Design and implement cloud-based data solutions using any of the tools/technologies like Hadoop, Snowflake, Azure, and other modern data platforms
• Collaborate with business, product, engineering, and operations teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
• Support analytics and business intelligence initiatives by enabling trusted and governed data products
• Lead architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and solution approvals across enterprise programs
• Ensure adherence to architecture standards, regulatory expectations, and enterprise compliance requirements
• Drive best practices for resilience, scalability, performance tuning, and operational support
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and architecture teams across programs and initiatives

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

• 18+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, enterprise data platforms, or related technology roles
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
• Strong experience in enterprise data architecture and data modeling, including conceptual, logical, and physical models
• Strong working experience in RDBMS like Oracle, Postgres as well as No SQL databases like Mongo etc
• Strong working experience in Snowflake and Hadoop ecosystem etc
• Hands-on experience with Data Warehousing, Data Lake, and modern enterprise data platform concepts
• Hands-on experience and understanding of AI , Data Mesh etc
• Strong expertise in ETL/ELT architecture, pipeline design, and data integration patterns
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and modern cloud-based data architecture
• Experience with DBT, Airflow and/or similar ETL/integration tools such as Informatica or Pentaho
• Good working knowledge of On Prem as well as public cloud platforms
• Strong understanding of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Master Data Management (MDM), and Data Quality frameworks
• Experience implementing security, compliance, and control requirements within enterprise data solutions
• Experience with Agile , CI/CD, DevOps practices, and orchestration frameworks in support of data platform delivery
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead architecture discussions, influence decisions, and work across cross-functional teams
• Strong understanding of Payments or financial services / banking domain, including risk, finance, and regulatory reporting data needs

Good to Have

• Experience with Power BI or similar analytics / visualization platforms
• Experience with reference data and enterprise data management frameworks
• Prior experience in banking, capital markets, or large regulated enterprises
• Experience leading large-scale cloud migration or data modernization programs
• Experience supporting architecture review boards or design authority forums
• Familiarity with enterprise reporting, client data, and operational data product use cases
• Experience mentoring teams and providing strategic technical leadership across multiple workstreams
