Job summary

Vodafone Group Plc is seeking an experienced Technical Architect in Pune, India to lead enterprise-scale ETL and data management initiatives. The role requires deep expertise in Ab Initio, data governance frameworks, and data warehousing architectures to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions.

The successful candidate will influence technical direction, drive process improvements, and promote best practices across the organisation, reporting to the Data Engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• 10-14 years of overall professional experience in data engineering, ETL architecture or related disciplines.
• 5-10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise ETL design and delivery.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ab Initio and Teradata in large-scale data environments.

• Perform ETL technical design, data architecture, data management and data analysis.
• Architect and implement data integration solutions using Ab Initio and data governance tools.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable data solutions aligned with business objectives.

About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale ETL and data management solutions within the Software Engineering – D&A function. This role is based in Pune, India and reports to Nitin Kadam. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in the Ab Initio technology suite, data governance frameworks, and data warehousing architectures to support high-quality, scalable, and business-aligned data solutions. The role offers the opportunity to influence technical direction, drive process improvements, and contribute to the adoption of best practices across the organisation.

What you’ll do

• Perform ETL technical design, data architecture, data management, and data analysis activities.
• Architect and design data integration solutions leveraging the capabilities of Ab Initio and data governance platforms.
• Work extensively with Ab Initio GDE and associated products/frameworks including Control Centre, Express>IT, Data Quality Management, Metadata Hub, and Conduct>IT.
• Drive impact assessments, application scoping, planning, development, testing, and delivery activities while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable and sustainable data solutions that support business objectives.
• Support data governance initiatives through effective utilisation of Metadata Hub and Collibra.
• Contribute to organisational excellence through process adoption, resource optimisation, and technology/tool enablement initiatives.
• Promote continuous improvement practices to enhance operational efficiency and solution quality.

Who you are

• Proven hands-on experience delivering ETL solutions using the Ab Initio suite of products and Teradata.
• Strong experience in data governance practices using Metadata Hub and Collibra.
• Sound knowledge of Data Warehousing, Data Modelling, Data Profiling, and related data management disciplines.
• Exposure to data modelling tools such as PowerDesigner, Erwin, or equivalent solutions.
• Good understanding of cloud technologies, with GCP experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver complex data solutions in enterprise environments.
• Overall professional experience of 10-14 years with 5-10 years of relevant experience in data engineering, ETL architecture, or related disciplines.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (B.E./B.Tech, BCA/MCA, BSc/MSc Computer Science).
