Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an accomplished Cloud Architecture leader to drive strategy, governance, and modernization of cloud platforms on Azure and AWS. You will collaborate with enterprise and product teams to define reference architectures, guardrails, and scalable patterns.

The role requires hands-on experience, 10+ years in software engineering or enterprise architecture, and Azure Solutions Architect certification, with a focus on cost optimization, security, and operational excellence across

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
Minimum 10 years in software engineering, solution/enterprise cloud architecture.
Hands-on design/implementation experience on Azure and/or AWS.
Strong knowledge of cloud-native patterns, distributed systems, microservices, APIs and event-driven architectures.
Experience designing highly available, secure, scalable cloud platforms and governance.
Azure Solutions Architect certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Define cloud architecture strategy, standards, and guardrails across the organization.
Design scalable, secure cloud-native solutions on Azure and AWS.
Lead modernization initiatives including re-platforming and cloud transformation programs.
Review designs and guide engineering teams throughout delivery lifecycle.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to align business objectives with tech strategy.
Drive adoption of microservices, APIs, and platform engineering.
Design cloud networking, security, DR, and business continuity solutions.
Lead cloud governance covering security, compliance, risk, FinOps, and operations.
Support performance optimization and platform reliability improvements.
Participate in architecture reviews, technology evaluations, and strategic planning.

Job description

Define cloud architecture strategy, standards, principles, and best practices across the organization
Design scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native solutions on Azure and AWS
Lead application modernization initiatives including re-platforming, refactoring, and cloud transformation programs
Establish reusable architecture patterns, reference implementations, and engineering guardrails
Review solution designs and provide architectural guidance to engineering teams throughout the delivery lifecycle
Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to align business objectives with technology strategy and target state architecture
Drive adoption of microservices, event-driven architecture, APIs, and platform engineering
Design cloud networking, security, identity, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
Lead cloud governance initiatives covering security, compliance, risk management, operational excellence, and FinOps
Support performance optimization, cloud cost management, and platform reliability improvements
Participate in architecture review boards, technology evaluations, and strategic planning activities
Identify technical debt, platform simplification opportunities, and strategic modernization initiatives
Work with Enterprise Architects, Product Teams, Engineering Teams, Security Teams, DevOps Engineers, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver modern technology platforms

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, cloud architecture, or enterprise platform delivery
Hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise cloud solutions on Azure and/or AWS
Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture patterns, distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures
Experience designing highly available, resilient, secure, and scalable cloud platforms
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, or OpenShift
Strong understanding of networking, identity management, security architecture, and cloud governance principles
Experience leading cloud migration, modernization, and platform transformation initiatives
Experience with cloud cost optimization, FinOps practices, and cloud operational governance
Strong technical documentation and architecture modeling skills
Azure Solutions Architect or equivalent cloud certifications
Experience defining enterprise cloud reference architectures, landing zones, and governance frameworks
Knowledge of data platforms including Databricks, Snowflake, or modern lakehouse architectures
Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns, API management, event streaming, and messaging platforms
Experience implementing security frameworks, zero-trust architecture, compliance, and regulatory requirements

Core Competencies

Demonstrates expertise in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions on Azure and AWS, with a strong focus on cloud architecture strategy, governance, and modernization initiatives. Proficient in leading cross-functional teams to drive cloud adoption and optimize performance and cost management.
