Senior Systems Engineer for Lunar Surface Systems
Ahmadabad City, India | Posted on 08/03/2026
At CosmoChute, we are building modular, reusable lunar robotics infrastructure for long-duration planetary operations. Our systems combine mobility, modular payload deployment, survivability through lunar nights, and repair ability to make sustained presence on the Moon economically viable. We’re a deeply technical, fast-moving team that believes in real ownership, real trust and in creating an environment where your best work matters.
If you want to work on hardware that will one day operate on the moon, this is the role.
Your Role
We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to own the technical coherence of our lunar surface systems. You'll sit at the intersection of every engineering discipline on the team, responsible for making sure the system works as a whole. The responsibilities include definitions and management of the requirements, managing interfaces, driving trade studies, and being the person who catches the problems that fall between subsystem boundaries before they become mission risks.
Your Responsibilities
- Own the system-level requirements architecture for the LEAP platform
- Work directly with the CTO on mission-level technical decisions
- Define and manage interface control documents (ICDs) across mechanical, electrical, software, and operational interfaces
- Maintain Technical Budgets across domains
- Lead system-level trade studies and support key design decisions with rigorous analysis
- Maintain the ConOps and mission analysis iterations and documentation through the design lifecycle
- Develop and own the system verification and validation plan, and coordinate V&V activities across the team
- Identify and manage system-level risks
- Support FMECA and fault tree analysis across subsystems
- Act as the integrating voice in design reviews, keeping subsystem decisions anchored to mission and system-level requirements
Requirements
Must have
- Experience of 5+ years in the same or similar domain.
- Experience leading or contributing to all the phases of the systems engineering lifecycle
- Experience in Requirements Engineering, Configuration Management, Architecture Trade Studies, Interface Management and V&V Campaigns
- Comfortable working across discipline boundaries
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, STK AGI, GMAT or similar Mission Analysis and Mission Design platforms
- Rigorous systems thinker who can prioritize mission reliability and also move fast when the situation demands it.
- Good to have
- Experience with model-based or document-based SE tools (DOORS, Cameo, or equivalent)
- Experience on planetary, lunar, or deep space missions
- Familiarity with ECSS, NASA systems engineering standards, or equivalent
- Exposure to robotic or autonomous surface systems
What we deeply value
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering,, or related engineering field
- Curiosity, initiative, and ownership
- Ability to objectively weigh design decisions and maintain inter-domain cooperation
- Practical engineering judgment and first principles thinking
- Willingness to iterate rapidly
- Passion for robotics, space systems, and exploration technologies
- Competitive compensation
- Equity participation
- Meaningful long-term growth potential
- Complete honesty with only legally required abstractions
