NAVEX Global, Inc. in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Backend & DevOps to join the AI Centre of Excellence.

You’ll be among the first engineers, owning the platform and contributing to integrations with business systems, working with Head of CoE and business leaders to deliver production-ready solutions. The role emphasizes security, data residency, CI/CD, IaC, and scalable backend services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering with production ownership.
• Experience deploying, observability and secrets paths.
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript (Node.js, Next.js), SQL/NoSQL.
• Hands-on with AWS, GCP or Azure, IAM, networking, containers, Terraform.
• Security-first approach with least privilege and audit trails.
• Ability to deploy systems from external partners.
• Experience in large organisations with IT approvals and SSO.

Responsibilities

• Own the CoE platform: CI/CD, environments, IaC, secrets, observability, cost controls.
• Build on shared platform and data infrastructure.
• Create integrations with CRM, proposal, support, and internal systems.
• Develop backend services, APIs, queues, data pipelines, and access control.
• Ensure security and data residency within cloud boundary.
• Harden and deploy systems from external partners for production readiness.
• Keep the stack lean; every added service is run by the team.

Senior Staff Software Engineer, Backend & DevOps

You'll be one of the first engineers in NAVEX's AI Centre of Excellence (CoE). Our agents are only as good as the systems they connect to and the platform they run on. You own both, working directly with the Head of the CoE and business leaders who use what we build.

What you’ll do:

• Own the platform the CoE runs on: CI/CD, environments, infrastructure as code, secrets, observability, cost controls.
  
• Build on shared platform and data infrastructure where it exists
  
• Build integrations with CRM, proposal, support and internal systems
  
• Build the backend services agents depend on APIs, queues, job runners, data pipelines, access control
  
• Own security and data residency. Company and customer data stays inside our cloud boundary. Design for that from day one, with security and IT
  
• Take over systems built by external partners. Harden them, deploy them properly, and make them runnable by a small team
  
• Keep the stack small - every service you add is one you run

What you’ll bring:

• 5+ years of backend engineering with real production ownership
  
• You’ve built the deploy, observability and secrets path yourself, not just inherited one
  
• Strong in Python and/or TypeScript (Node.js, Next.js), Fluent SQL / NoSQL.
  
• Hands-on with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP or Azure), Identity and Access Management (IAM), networking, containers, Terraform or equivalent
  
• You’ve integrated with systems you didn’t control and made them reliable anyway
  
• You’ve taken over a codebase someone else wrote and made it production-grade
  
• Strong security instincts: least privilege, audit trails, handling sensitive data
  
• Enterprise experience. You’ve navigated security reviews, IT approvals, identity/SSO and access controls, and know how to get things deployed inside a large organisation
  
• Working with AWS Bedrock, or inside a VPC-constrained enterprise environment
  
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks: SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR
