Job description

A Senior staff electrical design engineering position in the R&D department with primary responsibilities to design, maintain or improve hardware for an existing medical product used in surgeries, requirement engineering and ideation for early stage concepts, hands‑on proof of concept and prototype development along with mentoring team members and leading projects which may not be only limited to electrical engineering from a technical point of view.

What You will do:
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead a project and/or product line ups from technical point of view that may not be limited to electrical engineering
  • Partner with product management, marketing and clinical stakeholders to translate customer needs and clinical requirements into system and electrical requirements during early‑stage concept development
  • Drive ideation and concept generation for new products and/or features, assessing technical feasibility and technology fit ahead of formal program commitment
  • Support requirements engineering activities, including authoring and decomposing system‑level requirements into electrical requirements and maintaining traceability through the design process
  • Contribute to technology scouting and early feasibility assessment for emerging sensing, energy‑delivery, or interventional technologies relevant to peripheral vascular applications
  • Build proof‑of‑concept and prototype electronics to validate new concepts, technologies, or architectures before hand‑off to formal new product development programs
  • Flexibility is essential as specifications may not be fully defined at the start of development, and liaison with customers for continued feedback and input of requirements is likely throughout the development
  • Create schematic and review layout, BOM, Gerber files and create testing plans for the designs
  • Collaboration with other team members (including hardware, software, or design engineers) to agree system designs, drivers, algorithms, firmware, and protocols etc.
  • Optimize designs for PCBs and flex circuits for density, cost, thermal issues, and other factors
  • Simulation, testing, and troubleshooting of designs, including bench testing, and debugging using test equipment
  • Development of appropriate test hardware and procedures, both informal and formal, to prove the correct operation of hardware
  • Apply hands‑on in‑depth knowledge of test equipment including but not limited to oscilloscopes, signal generators, vector network and spectrum analysers etc.
  • Identify root causes of issues, determines potential solutions, and evaluates them against requirements
  • Review and approve the manufacturing documents for PCBA. Ability to handle component obsolescence in multiple products in Stryker. Participate in task planning and estimating activities
  • Documentation of work according to organization quality standards
  • Follows the company’s standards for code development and quality process and complies with quality management system procedures. Ensures the integrity and security of patient health information, company intellectual property, and confidential data
