Role Profile
Member of the Production Application Support Team within Post Trade division that manages Level 2 support for Post Trade Data Store (Snowflake), primarily production and some of the other Non‑Production Environments. This role is associated with the management of the testing, build and implementation of releases and also any independent infrastructure and environment support. Working in the wider Application Support Team – the focus will be on delivering the change programme across all lifecycles from dev, test, UAT to Member Test and Production environments. A production focused approach will be required with resilience, operational readiness, performance and production support being at the forefront of delivery. The role requires Morning, Day or Night shift work according to the UK time roster. Out of hours support overnight, across weekends and Bank Holidays is frequently needed – on‑call support is required. Strong business knowledge is required for working with business teams during investigations. Subject matter expertise on the underlying application technologies is required to provide detailed technical support for developers producing bug fixes & new releases of these applications. Self‑motivation and the ability to prioritise workload are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve Incidents and Problems
- Monitor ServiceNow for incidents and problems
- Analyse problems and decide on suitable resolutions
- Apply resolutions following the Post Trade change management procedure
- Report status to relevant business and IT teams
- Record progress of incident resolution in ServiceNow
- Follow documented incident management procedures
- Snowflake responsibilities
- Supervise highly available and scalable Snowflake databases across the Post Trade Division
- Implement standard methodologies for Snowflake DB administration – backup & recover, security and performance tuning
- Proactively monitor the Snowflake environment to identify and resolve performance issues, bottlenecks, capacity and system vulnerabilities
- Work closely with Cloud Infrastructure change teams to automate deployment, configuration and maintenance using IaC tools
- Provide a foundation for building and maintaining successful SRE functions
- Build and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring and analysis of AWS infrastructure
- Embed into SRE projects and on‑call rotations to keep skills sharp and stay close to operational workflows and issues
- Work on systems: edge cases, failure modes and behaviours
- Bug fixes and enhancements to Post Trade products
- Design solutions for long‑term fixes for application bugs and minor functionality enhancements

Person Specification
Education: Degree educated, preferably in a technical discipline.
Required Skills And Experience
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and methodologies
- Experience optimizing Snowflake and Oracle DB environments
- Proficiency in SQL and database query optimisation techniques
- Preferably Snowflake DB certification on SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced
- Good knowledge of AWS Cloud Technologies (EC2, EBS, RDS, VPC, Aurora, MSK, ALB, ECR) or Azure equivalent
- Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Experience with data ingestion pipelines, ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
- Good knowledge of DevOps and related technologies – CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible, Kafka
- Exposure to XML
- Knowledge of network diagnostics & web servers
- Hands‑on version control and deployment (Bitbucket, GitLab, Docker, Terraform, Terragrunt, Flyway, Liquibase)
- Experience using and implementing IT vendor products such as DataDog, Moogsoft, Atlassian suite, Salesforce, ServiceNow
