Job summary

Philips is seeking a Senior Software Technologist specializing in C++ to design, implement and test software for use in medical systems. You will work on components or modules, ensuring reliability and quality according to medical standards, and contribute to a long-term, maintainable software stack.

The role requires strong C++ skills, OO design, experience with GIT and agile methodologies (SAFe/Scrum) across the full software lifecycle. Office-based role with 3 days on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master of Engineering in CS/E&C or equivalent required.
• Experience in software design and development.
• Strong C++ programming experience.
• Experience with OO programming, GIT, SOLID, and unit testing.
• Experience with agile (SAFe, Scrum) and V-model.
• Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.

Your Role

In this role, you are responsible for the design and implementation and test of software for use within medical systems.

Key Responsibility Area

• Design and implementation of software (on component or module level)—understand and communicate consequences of your design on the architecture and influence design specification.
• Design software based on design specifications in accordance, to ensure that the software will be reliable, efficient, user-friendly, easy to maintain and meet the (medical) quality and coding standards.
• Implement class, unit integration and unit tests for the designed modules or components.
• Contribute to the quality and maintainability of our software stack which has to be maintained for a long time (10+ years).
• Perform work in-line with processes/quality system.
• Contributing to the unit interfaces (SW), in close consultation with relevant disciplines.
• Initiatives and active participation for continuous improvement and Agile / Safe / Scrum process.

You Are a Great Fit If

• Bachelor/Master of Engineering in the field of Computer Science/ Electronics and Communication or equivalent
• At least years’ experience in software design and development
• Strong working experience of C++
• Experience object-oriented programming, GIT / ADS / SOLID principles and (unit) testing
• Experience with software development methodologies such as agile (SAFE), scrum and the V-model
• Experience with all aspects of the software development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, test, and integration
• Ability to analyze the root cause of a problem and deliver evidence for the root cause and it side effects.
• Ability to find existing (legacy) code a positive challenge.
• Ability to think in risks for the proposed solution (including where to solve it)
• Design and implementation of software (on component or module level)—understand and communicate consequences of your design on the architecture and influence design specification.
• Design software based on design specifications in accordance, to ensure that the software will be reliable, efficient, user-friendly, easy to maintain and meet the (medical) quality and coding standards.
• Implement class, unit integration and unit tests for the designed modules or components.
• Affinity and interest in SW/HW integration
• Good communication in English (both written and verbal)
• Personality skills to collaborate with colleagues from different teams/levels and think across functional borders
• A lean/pragmatic attitude who can drive change and continuously seeks improvements and ways to reduce ‘waste’
• Interest in development of software in a controlled regulated environment
• Experience in working in a healthcare product development environment is an advantage
