upGrad is seeking a Senior Software Developer — React Native to join our mobile engineering team in Bengaluru. You will build, scale, and maintain high-quality mobile applications used by learners across platforms, collaborating with product, design, backend, QA, and other engineers.

The candidate should own features end-to-end, from technical design to production, emphasize performance, debugging, and robust error handling, and mentor junior developers while contributing to mobile architecture

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React Native and mobile app development.
• Good understanding of React, component architecture, state management and hooks.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating third‑party services.
• Experience with Android and/or iOS concepts and native integration is a plus.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer — React Native to join our mobile engineering team.

You will be responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining high-quality mobile applications used by learners across platforms. You will work closely with product, design, backend, QA, and other

engineering teams to deliver reliable and engaging mobile experiences.

The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on engineer who understands mobile development beyond just UI implementation and can take ownership of features from technical design through production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable mobile applications using React Native.
• Own mobile features end-to-end - from technical design and development to testing, release, monitoring, and production support.

Build reusable, maintainable, and performant mobile components and application architecture.

Integrate mobile applications with backend services and REST APIs.

• Work closely with Product and Design teams to translate requirements and designs into high-quality mobile experiences.

Optimize application performance, startup time, rendering, memory usage, network usage, and overall user experience.

• Debug and resolve complex issues across application, device, network, and API layers.
• Implement robust error handling, analytics, logging, and crash monitoring.
• Work with native Android/iOS capabilities when required and understand the underlying mobile platform constraints.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with backend, web, QA, DevOps, and product engineering teams.
• Contribute to mobile architecture and technical decisions as the product scales.
• Own production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive preventive improvements.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to improving the overall mobile engineering quality.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4-6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React Native and mobile application development.
• Good understanding of React, component architecture, state management, and hooks.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Strong understanding of mobile application performance and debugging.
• Experience with Android and/or iOS development concepts and platform-specific constraints.
• Experience with mobile build, release, and deployment processes.
• Good understanding of Git and modern software development practices.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, and problem-solving.
• Experience with state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand, or similar is preferred.
• Experience with Firebase, Crashlytics, analytics, push notifications, deep linking, or similar mobile capabilities is a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD for mobile applications is a plus.
