Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with PHP (CodeIgniter or Symfony) and React.
• Experience with Python or Node.js is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ messaging systems.
• Proven backend, API development and distributed systems experience.

ChargePoint is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the software platform powering the world's largest EV charging network. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in distributed systems and full-stack development to drive the transition to electric mobility. Your work will directly impact the stability, performance, and scalability of solutions used by thousands of EV drivers globally.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join one of our teams to help maintain and enhance our cloud-based software platform for e-mobility. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of the platform, working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features and improvements. Success in this role means balancing technical excellence with pragmatic solutions, writing clean code, and leading technical initiatives across the engineering organization.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

• Collaborate with other software developers to align on project goals, architecture, and delivery timelines.
• Implement and maintain scalable software solutions using PHP, balancing technical excellence with pragmatic solutions to deliver business value.
• Leverage GitOps, Kubernetes, and other cloud-native tools to streamline deployment and infrastructure management.
• Participate in architectural discussions, bringing forward innovative ideas and constructively challenging others’ proposals.
• Design and develop robust, secure, and highly available APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Build and maintain responsive, user-friendly frontend components and interfaces using React.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, readability, and adherence to engineering best practices.
• Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in production environments, ensuring high availability of our distributed applications.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture to support a rapidly growing global user base.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in PHP (CodeIgniter or Symfony) and React, building scalable and maintainable applications.
• Experience with Python or Node.js is a strong plus.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL and messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Proven expertise in backend development, object-oriented design, and scalable API development.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating distributed, event-driven systems.
• Commitment to clean code, best practices, and source control using Git.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a growth mindset and openness to feedback.
• Experience leveraging AI-powered development tools is an added advantage.
