Summary
Leading technical contributor to the enhancement and maintenance of Charles River IMS modules within an agile scrum team. Provide engineering troubleshooting assistance to customer support teams and other development teams within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical excellence by independently analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and debugging large and complex software enhancements within Charles River’s business and technical domains.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create simple, sustainable software solutions for complex problems.
- Provide thought leadership in product architecture design within and beyond the team’s scope.
- Lead problem solving for projects or major phases to resolve advanced software technical issues.
- Develop, test, debug, and implement software programs using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and related engineering languages, staying current with emerging technologies affecting the business.
- Develop cloud‑native services (Azure experience a bonus).
- Design and implement microservice architectures and Kubernetes.
- Work with Kafka and message‑based systems.
- Work with Snowflake (strong asset) and SQL (preferred).
- Provide informed guidance and critical analysis during code reviews.
- Write unit and automation tests to ensure high‑quality delivery.
- Identify improvements to development and test methodologies, contributing to test methodology frameworks.
- Conduct manual tests to ensure product quality.
- Provide expert level troubleshooting on large, mission‑critical client implementations.
- Assist team leaders in the agile software development process by attending all daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Plan and coordinate cross‑team activities to complete assignments.
Qualifications
Education: B.S. degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related technical field required; M.S. preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in financial services developing solutions for portfolio management, trading, compliance, post‑trade, IBOR, or wealth management (strongly desired).
- Authoritative experience with object‑oriented programming, compilers or interpreters, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases (RDBMS), scripting, and advanced programming languages.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving in multi‑tiered, high‑performance database applications.
- Demonstrated ability to design and develop simple software solutions for high‑complexity problems.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Team‑oriented collaborative work style.
- Minimum 5 years working with Agile development methodology.
