Job summary

EPAM Systems is expanding with a Senior Software Engineer (Java, AWS Cloud) to craft scalable Java web services with strong security and cloud foundations. You will work with front-end and cross-functional partners, implement RESTful APIs, and tune services for performance and resilience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT experience with strong Java proficiency.
• Experience developing web services and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on Spring Boot development.
• Security: Spring Security and JWT for auth.
• Hibernate ORM with SQL and stored procedures.
• Proficiency with Linux command line.
• Git and Azure DevOps usage.
• Docker & Kubernetes and CI/CD familiarity.
• English level Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher.
• Knowledge of Angular and microservices is a plus.

We are expanding with a Senior Software Engineer (Java, AWS Cloud) to craft scalable Java web services with strong security and cloud foundations. You will work closely with front-end and cross-functional partners, implement RESTful APIs, and tune services for performance and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, design, and maintain scalable and high-performance web services using Java
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate web services seamlessly into web applications
• Implement RESTful APIs to enable smooth communication between client-side and server-side applications
• Ensure web services remain robust, reliable, and secure by applying best practices and standards
• Optimize performance and scalability with caching, load balancing, and database optimization in mind
• Partner with product managers, architects, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions
• Support code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and help enforce coding standards
• Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in Java development and web services

Requirements

• Professional IT experience of 5+ years, including 5+ years of strong Java proficiency
• Strong understanding of developing web services, including RESTful APIs
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot for building and deploying web services
• Demonstrated skill in security best practices, including Spring Security and JWT for authentication and authorization
• Working knowledge of SQL queries and stored procedures and experience with Hibernate for ORM-based database interaction
• Proficiency with Linux commands in day-to-day engineering work
• Strong understanding of web security principles and best practices
• Experience with version control systems such as Git and ADO
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps (Sprint board, PR, Jenkins, Docker & Kubernetes, etc.)
• Ability to work with Swing, AWT, JavaFX, and Java Desktop Applications
• Excellent problem-solving skills with strong analytical thinking
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a team
• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Knowledge of Angular
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
• Background in Agile development methodologies, with certification in Java programming or related technologies
