Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior AS400/iSeries developer to design, develop, test, and support RxClaim enhancements. You will work across RxClaim modules to implement complex adjudication logic, pricing and PBM-related processes.

The role requires 8+ years in AS400/iSeries development, experience with Synon/2E, RPG, COBOL, CL, and a strong grasp of AI-powered tooling to boost productivity. Agile delivery experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in AS400/iSeries application development.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or equivalent.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models.
• Deep knowledge of RxClaim Code Adjudication, Plan setup, benefit administration, claim processing, pricing, accumulators, and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support RxClaim Plan and F6 enhancements using AS400/iSeries, Synon/2E, RPG, and COBOL.
• Analyze business requirements and perform impact assessment across RxClaim Code Adjudication and Plan modules.
• Develop adjudication logic, benefits processing, pricing, accumulators, edits, and claim processing enhancements.
• Participate in backlog refinement, estimation, design reviews, code reviews, testing, and production support.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root cause analysis and resolution.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate code analysis, documentation, testing, impact analysis, modernization, and engineering productivity.

Primary Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in AS400/iSeries application development
• Proven experience in software design, development, implementation, and production support
• Hands-on experience with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or equivalent
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models
• Deep knowledge of RxClaim Code Adjudication, Plan setup, benefit administration, claim processing, pricing, accumulators, and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) systems
• Proven solid expertise in Synon/2E, RPG, COBOL, CL, and DB2
• Proven solid analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
• Proven ability to build and leverage AI-powered automations, copilots, agents, and knowledge solutions to improve engineering efficiency and software quality

Preferred Qualification:

• Experience leading complex feature delivery and mentoring engineering teams
