Job summary

RELX INC in Mumbai (India) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of complex software solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to finalize requirements, implement robust microservices, and optimize performance in cloud environments.

The role requires strong Java expertise (8→11/21 migrations) and hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, and Cosmos DB, along with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• A BS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Strong Java experience; Java 8 required, with Java 11/21 experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Microservices, Hibernate, JPA, and Cosmos DB.
• Experience with performance optimization and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions preferred), and Azure cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Kafka/EventHub and strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Java migration experience (8 → 11/21), Databricks, and Python are good to have.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical personnel and team members to finalize software requirements and understand product requirements.
• Develop and review detailed specifications and translate moderately complex requirements into effective software designs.
• Implement software development processes, coding best practices, and participate in code reviews.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues and complete bug fixes across various development environments.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders in Agile, Waterfall, and other development methodologies.
• Work with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Microservices, Hibernate, JPA, Cosmos DB, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
• Configure and support services using Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments such as Azure, with a focus on performance optimization.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to technology migrations and related initiatives, including Java upgrades, Kafka/EventHub, Databricks, and Python as applicable.
