Job summary

Procore Technologies is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join the Product & Technology Team in Bengaluru. You will design and build native Android solutions, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to translate customer needs into scalable SaaS software.

You’ll drive architectural decisions, mentor teammates, and own substantial parts of the mobile platform, contributing to performance, reliability, and new value delivery from Procore’s global platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of engineering experience, 3+ years building native Android apps in Kotlin/Java.
• Strong knowledge of Android architecture components (Room, LiveData, Jetpack, Compose) and MVVM.

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join Procore’s Product & Technology Team. Procore software solutions aim to improve the lives of everyone in construction and the people within Product & Technology are the driving force behind our innovative, top-rated global platform. We’re a customer-centric group that encompasses engineering, product, product design and data, security and business systems. This role is part of Procore’s mobile software development team. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with other project stakeholders to design and build customer solutions on our Android platform. As a Senior Android Engineer, you’ll partner intimately with our customer base, translating their fundamental needs into technological SaaS solutions. We’ll provide you with the tools and resources needed to achieve extraordinary results that render a significant impact extending beyond the boundaries of traditional engineering roles. This position will report to our Sr. Software Engineering Manager and will be based in our Bangalore office. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you’ll do:

• Leverage your technical proficiency to serve as the go-to expert in your technical area, acting as a representative of your team, and work independently across the scope of your team
• Help set standards for your teams, providing technical and procedural advice, and decision-making
• Self-direct your work and task selection. Anticipate functional limitations of systems they’re developing
• Handle the full lifecycle of development within your team, including operational support and incident resolution
• Challenge tasks that seem unclear or would benefit from further direction
• Use a customer-centric approach to lead architectural design decisions
• Develop fellow teammates by conducting code reviews, providing mentorship, pairing, and training opportunities
• Have a significant impact that extends beyond the boundaries of your team, on projects affecting scalability, performance, and new value delivery

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of Engineering Experience (3+ years of experience building native Android applications using Kotlin and Java)
• Broad and deep understanding of Android’s architectural components (Room, LiveData, Jetpack, Compose, etc.) and the MVVM architecture
• Experience with Coroutines and Flows is a plus
• Experience building apps with offline capabilities is a plus
• Experience working with RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of multi-threading, concurrent programming, and performance optimization
• Proven ability to develop and ship complex high-quality software products that are performant and reliable
• Proven working knowledge of good software engineering techniques, methodologies, and best practices
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work closely with others both within and adjacent to the existing team
• Experience leading initiatives with the ability to course-correct as needed
• Ability to consistently evaluate current technical approaches to continue to be industry best-of-class
