As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build the web applications our customers use every day - the dashboards, the reports and the screens that show what is happening inside a plant right now. You will work across React on the frontend and Node.js on the backend, with our data coming in from AWS and IoT devices.
You will work closely with the Technical Lead and with senior engineers. This is a strong role for someone who has 4 to 6 years of solid full stack experience and now wants to work on a product where the data is real, messy and arriving every second.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain web applications using React.js, TypeScript, Node.js and REST APIs.
- Develop reusable and maintainable frontend components and backend services.
- Build screens and dashboards that display real-time plant and sensor data.
- Write and optimise REST APIs, and work with SQL databases.
- Work with AWS services to build and run cloud-based application features.
- Implement authentication, authorisation and role-based access control.
- Debug and fix issues across the frontend, backend and cloud layers.
- Write clean, tested code and take part in code reviews.
- Work with the Technical Lead on design and architecture decisions for the features you build.
- Collaborate with product managers, QA and other engineers to deliver features end to end.
- Take part in production support and help find the root cause when something breaks.
Must Have:
- 4 to 6 years of experience building web applications in production.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
Frontend
- HTML5, CSS3 and responsive UI development.
- State management using Redux, React Query or similar.
- Experience with component libraries such as Ant Design or Material UI.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, with Express.js or a similar framework.
- Asynchronous programming and understanding of event-driven architecture.
- Basic understanding of API security and authentication.
Cloud and Data
- Working knowledge of AWS - services such as Lambda, S3, API Gateway and CloudWatch.
- Good SQL knowledge and experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Git and Git-based workflows.
Good to Have:
- WebSocket and real-time communication.
- Experience with data visualisation libraries such as Highcharts, Chart.js or ECharts.
- Experience with AWS IoT Core, MQTT or any device-to-cloud communication.
- Experience with time-series databases such as InfluxDB, or NoSQL databases and Redis.
- Docker, CI/CD pipelines and Linux fundamentals.
- Understanding of frontend performance optimisation.
- Exposure to IoT, manufacturing, or other industrial and process environments.
- Experience working in a product company or a startup.
