Job summary

Straive is seeking a senior software engineer to join its in-house engineering team in Mumbai as part of a platform migration and AI feature enhancement. The role is hands-on, requiring you to write code, shape technical design, and mentor other engineers while coordinating with US stakeholders.

You will design and implement front-end, back-end, and API components using TypeScript, Node.js, and React, and build AI-powered features via LLM APIs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering with hands-on full-stack work.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Experience designing REST APIs and third-party integrations.
• Hands-on with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.
• Daily use of AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).
• Experience in unit testing / TDD and code reviews in Agile teams.
• Excellent English communication, comfortable with US stakeholders.

This is a hands-on senior role: you will write code, shape technical design, guide other engineers, and workdirectly with US-based stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain front-end, back-end and API components using TypeScript, Node.js and React.
• Build and integrate AI features using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or similar).
• Design data models and write optimized SQL.
• Lead technical discussions, review code, and mentor junior engineers.
• Work in Agile sprints with US teams: refinement, estimation and status updates.
• Act as first point of escalation for complex technical issues in your area.

Required Skills

• 7+ years in software engineering, with strong hands-on full-stack work.
• SQL, relational data modeling, and query optimization.
• REST API design and third-party integrations.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs and using prompt engineering (structured outputs, system prompts).
• Daily use of AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code or similar).
• Unit testing / TDD and code reviews in Agile teams.
• Excellent spoken and written English, and comfort working directly with US clients.

Preferred Skills

• Agentic AI: tool/function calling, MCP, agent frameworks, LLM evaluation (LLM-as- judge, regression tests).
• LMS integrations, e.g. Cornerstone, Workday Learning, or LTI/SCORM-based platforms.
• Python; exposure to Java or .NET.
• Healthcare, EHR (e.g., Epic) or edtech domain experience.
• Experience as a tech lead or mentor.
