Job summary

Calix India seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to design and implement Wi‑Fi features and unit tests. You will develop and integrate mesh networking on prplMesh/Easymesh (prplOS) and RDK‑B/OpenWRT platforms, and build proofs of concept for new technologies.

Responsibilities include researching Wi‑Fi advancements and debugging field issues in collaboration with silicon vendors. A strong background in C/C++, networking, and embedded Linux is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
  • Over 5 years of experience in embedded system software development.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++.
  • Strong understanding of Wi‑Fi technologies including 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be etc.
  • Extensive experience with WPA supplicant, Hostapd, and Radius protocol.
  • Extensive experience with IP networking and a good knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on innovation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Self-starter who strives for results and continual improvement.
  • Must work well independently and as part of a team.

Nice to Have:
  • In-depth understanding of the 802.11 protocol suite and WLAN technology
  • Experience on Qualcomm, Broadcom, Maxlinear platform etc.
  • Experience on Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 (including MLO / 802.11be features)
  • Hands-on experience with prplMesh/Easymesh, IEEE 1905.1, and 802.11s mesh networking, including Easymesh R5/R6 certification
  • Experience with RDK-B, prplOS, and/or OpenWRT gateway software stacks
  • Familiarity with Yocto build systems and embedded Linux kernel/driver development

  • India – (Flexible hybrid work model - work from Bangalore office for 20 days in a quarter)
