Job summary

Okta Bengaluru is seeking a senior backend engineer to join the Enablement team that builds and maintains APIs and services for B2B customers. You will help ensure reliability, scalability, and security while delivering high-impact features.

You will work with Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, React, and Docker, mentoring teammates and owning key quality attributes. This role involves an on-call rotation and hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working on large-scale systems or services.
• Previous experience using Node.js (TypeScript or JavaScript) to build backend services and create and maintain public or internal APIs.
• Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• You are a good communicator and mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping the team grow.
• You work autonomously but know when to seek help from your team members.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker) and cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers both inside and outside the team to design and deliver powerful new APIs and features for our B2B Customers.
• Drive technical improvements to our codebase and architecture, ensuring our systems are highly reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
• Mentor and coach other engineers on sound engineering practices and testing.
• Work closely with your team, the Product Manager, and the Product Designer to define the look, feel, and functionality of new features and review customer feedback.
• Participate in the team's on-call rotation to ensure we offer our customers the best availability for our services.

Okta’s Auth0 is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-0 global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation.

The Team

The Enablement team is at the core of expanding Auth0's capabilities for B2B customers, enabling seamless and automated user lifecycle management at a massive scale. We build and own the critical features that enterprises rely on to connect their identity sources to Auth0, including Enterprise APIs and our powerful self-service capabilities.

Our work is highly impactful, helping customers automate the creation, updating, and deactivation of users. This is a cornerstone for B2B SaaS applications that need to efficiently manage access for their own customers and partners. We work with NodeJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and React to build these highly available and scalable services.

What you’ll be doing:

What you’ll bring to the role:

• 5+ years of experience working on large-scale systems or services.
• Previous experience using Node.js (TypeScript or JavaScript) to build backend services and create and maintain public or internal APIs.
• You have worked on full-stack applications in the past; while this is a backend-focused role, a portion of our work involves React, and your familiarity is a plus.
• Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• You are a good communicator and mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping the team grow.
• You work autonomously but know when to seek help from your team members.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker) and cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure preferred).
