Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to architect scalable payroll platforms that operate across multiple countries and regulatory environments. You will own end-to-end technical vision for core product areas and drive architecture decisions with cross-functional teams.

You will mentor engineers, establish quality standards, and collaborate with product and finance to translate complex requirements into reliable software solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

A day in the life

As a Senior Software Development Engineer on our Payroll Technology team, you'll focus on designing and building systems that ensure every Amazonian gets paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with global regulations. Your day might include collaborating with engineering and finance stakeholders to decompose complex business challenges into clear technical strategies, leading architecture discussions that span multiple services and teams, and conducting code reviews that elevate the quality bar across the organization. You'll also mentor engineers at various levels, establish practices and tooling that make high quality the team's default, and work across time zones with colleagues globally to plan and deliver the next generation of our payroll platform.
