Job summary

Applied Materials India Pvt Ltd in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Software Architect to design and implement scalable software for semiconductor equipment components. You will lead cross-functional teams, drive architectural decisions, and prototype solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

The role requires 12-18 years in CS with strong expertise in core Java, Spring, and ML-friendly Python frameworks. Experience with Temporal/Airflow and CV ML libraries is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 12-18 yrs of experience with BTech / MTech in Computer Science.
• 10+ years in a Software Architect or similar role with product development experience.
• 10+ years in core Java with advanced features (streams, functional programming, virtual threads).
• 5+ years in Spring Boot and related Spring features.
• 4+ years driving HLD/LLD, code reviews, and clean coding practices (SOLID).
• 4+ years building and driving microservices-based architectures.
• Experience with workflow frameworks (Temporal, Apache Airflow).
• Experience in reactive programming.
• Knowledge of Semiconductor domain is a plus.
• Proficiency in Python for CV/ML algorithms (scikit-image, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

• Coding and developing quick prototypes to establish designs with real code and data.
• Being a subject matter expert to unblock software engineers.
• Conducting technical reviews and providing guidance during the development process.
• Identifying and mitigating technical risks and issues throughout the SDLC.
• Evaluating and recommending appropriate technologies and frameworks to meet project requirements.
• Leading the design and implementation of complex software components and systems.
• Mentoring and coaching Tech Leads & software engineers.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing scalable, reliable and maintainable software solutions for our organization.


• Working closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and translate them into architectural/software designs that meet business needs.

• Minimum experience of 10+ years in core Java & advanced features. E.g., streams, functional programming, virtual threads.


• Minimum experience of 5+ years in Spring Boot & associated Spring features.


• Minimum experience of 4+ years of driving/contributing towards HLD & LLD, contribution towards code reviews & coding practices (like clean code & SOLID principles).


• Minimum experience of 4+ years in building and driving microservices based architecture or large-scale systems.


• Strong algorithms & data-structures.


• Experience in workflow frameworks. Examples - Temporal, Apache Airflow etc.


• Experience in reactive programming.


• Good to have: Good knowledge of Semiconductor domain.


• Design, prototype, implement and test software and computer vision machine learning algorithms in Python.


• Experience with scikit-image, Tensor Flow, PyTorch.
