Job summary

Power Farming in Whangarei (Northland) seeks a Senior Service Technician to service, repair and overhaul agricultural and construction machinery. You’ll work in both workshop and on-site settings, diagnosing faults and applying manufacturer specifications.

You’ll mentor apprentices and fellow technicians while delivering high-quality service. A heavy machinery qualification and vehicle licence are required, with a permanent, full-time schedule Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a mechanical repair workshop, ideally with agricultural or construction machinery.
  • Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and computerised service systems.
  • Safety-conscious with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Full driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain machinery using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Detect and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently and accurately.
  • Use computer-based service systems to source technical information, download and interpret machine data.
  • Dismantle, repair and rebuild components to manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete service documentation and administration accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with parts, service and branch teams to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
  • Travel as required to support customers on-site.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Provide coaching, guidance and mentoring to apprentice and service technicians, sharing knowledge and best practice across the team.

About the role:

As a Senior Service Technician, you will be responsible forservicing, repairing, maintaining and overhauling agricultural and constructionmachinery to manufacturer specifications. Working both in the workshop and inthe field, you will:

  • Experience coaching, mentoring or supporting lessexperienced technicians would be advantageous.
