Job summary

Qualifications

We are looking for a Senior Quant Developer Exp 5+ to lead a small team of 2-3 engineers and own critical software projects powering our trading and research infrastructure. This is a hands-on tech lead role where you will both write production code and guide the engineers on your team. You will work primarily in Python, with select projects in Rust (prior Rust experience is a plus but not required; we expect a ramp-up period with mentorship from the team). No prior quant or trading domain knowledge is needed; this is a software engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Lead and Own: Lead a team of 2-3 developers. Own projects end-to-end from design to delivery to production. Be accountable for outcomes.
• Core Development: Build and maintain performance-sensitive Python codebases that power trading systems, data infrastructure, and research tooling.
• Architecture and Design: Make key design decisions: API design, data layout, abstraction boundaries, performance trade-offs. Set the engineering standard for your team.
• Mentorship: Review code, mentor junior engineers, unblock your team, and foster a culture of ownership and technical excellence.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with quants, researchers, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into robust, well-engineered systems.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field from a Tier-1 institute (IITs, IISc, IIITs, BITS, ISI, or equivalent top-ranked global universities).
• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend software development, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Python: Strong, idiomatic Python, not just scripting, but building production systems. Deep familiarity with the language and its ecosystem.
• Computing Fundamentals: Solid understanding of computing internals, memory models, concurrency, OS fundamentals, cache behaviour, and performance reasoning. You should understand what your code does to the machine, not just that it runs.
• Design and Architecture: Strong software design principles, clean abstractions, thoughtful API design, and the ability to reason about trade-offs in data-intensive, performance-sensitive systems.
• Leadership and Ownership: Proven experience leading a small team, owning projects end-to-end, and mentoring engineers. You figure it out, ship, and own the outcome.

Nice-to-Haves

• Prior exposure to Rust (ownership, borrowing, traits conceptual familiarity is enough).
• Experience with Python Rust interop (PyO3 FFI).
• Experience with low-latency or high-throughput systems.
• Exposure to distributed systems and network programming.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and large-scale data processing.
