Job summary

Marriott Tech Accelerator is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer II in Hyderabad to lead automation efforts for the Enterprise Commerce team. You will drive end-to-end QA strategies, mentor QA engineers, and shape robust test frameworks for backend services, REST APIs, and cloud deployments.

You will collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders, integrate tests with CI/CD pipelines, and champion best practices across distributed teams to ensure scalable, reliable commerce solutions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in automation scripting for large-scale apps.
• 6+ years with backend systems, REST APIs and Kafka.
• 6+ years in Spring Boot and Java automation.
• Experience integrating tests with CI/CD pipelines.
• NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Couchbase) and cloud (AWS).
• Proven ability to lead distributed offshore QA teams.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• 5+ years in backend automation testing frameworks (Tosca/ReadyAPI/Cucumber/Karate).

Role Title:

Senior Quality Engineer II

Position Summary:

The Senior Quality Engineer II for the Enterprise Commerce team is a key technical leader at the Marriott Tech Accelerator, responsible for driving quality assurance and automation excellence across multiple commerce tracks. This role ensures the highest standard of deliverables by managing robust end-to-end testing strategies, fostering collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, and advancing automation practices for scalable, secure, and reliable commerce solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor quality engineering teams, overseeing quality assurance across all commerce tracks and ensuring the integrity and reliability of deliverables.
• Design, implement, and optimize automation frameworks and test strategies for complex backend systems, REST APIs, Kafka-dependent applications, NoSQL document databases, and cloud-based deployments.
• Validate and automate test cases for systems leveraging event-driven architectures and cloud infrastructure (AWS or other providers).
• Integrate test cases with CI and CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to align testing activities with release goals and business priorities.
• Drive continuous improvement in test processes, defect management, and automation coverage, proactively identifying and addressing gaps in test execution.
• Facilitate technical training and development for team members to elevate overall quality standards.
• Coordinate the scheduling and execution of testing and report errors and issues for resolution.
• Contribute to the identification and ongoing monitoring of risks and concerns.
• Review and approve test scripts and automation flows, ensuring best practices are followed across all commerce initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 6+ years of hands-on experience in automation scripting for large-scale applications.
• At least 6+ years of experience working with backend systems, RESTful APIs, and validating/automating test cases for applications dependent on Kafka event streaming.
• At least 6+ years of experience in Spring Boot and Java application development and automation.
• Prior experience integrating automation test scripts with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong expertise with NoSQL document databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Couchbase) and experience testing solutions deployed on AWS or other major cloud platforms.
• Proven ability to manage distributed and offshore quality engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and technical problem-solving skills.
• At least 5+ years of cumulative experience with backend automation testing frameworks, including but not limited to Tricentis Tosca, Smartbear ReadyAPI, Cucumber BDD, and Karate BDD.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with Tricentis Tosca, Smartbear ReadyAPI, Cucumber BDD, or Karate BDD
• Demonstrated experience with Springboot and Java.

Education and Certifications:

• Undergraduate / bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
