TEGNA, Inc. is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer - CTV with 5-7 years of experience to design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for CTV applications across Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, and Apple TV.

Collaborate with Product, Development, DevOps, and cross-functional teams to drive automation strategy, improve test coverage, and ensure high-quality software releases in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in QA Automation / Software Testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright.
  • Hands-on experience with Cucumber and BDD-based automation frameworks.
  • Experience with functional, regression, smoke, integration, end-to-end, and API testing.
  • Experience testing or automating CTV/OTT applications and devices.
  • Hands-on exposure to CTV platforms such as Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, and Apple TV.
  • Strong understanding of automation framework architecture, reusable components, Page Object Model, assertions, and test data management.
  • Experience with Git and source-control practices.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
  • Strong debugging, defect investigation, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Product, Engineering, DevOps, and other teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Automate and validate CTV applications across platforms including Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, and Apple TV, where applicable.
  • Collaborate with Product, Development, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Analyze automation failures, perform root-cause analysis, report defects, and validate fixes.
  • Support and integrate automated test execution with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, estimation, and release activities.
  • Lead automation strategy and continuously improve test frameworks, automation coverage, and testing practices.
  • Develop reusable automation components and maintain automation scripts for long-term scalability.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to automation coding standards and best practices.
  • Mentor QA engineers and provide technical guidance on automation practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, quality, and overall automation effectiveness.
  • React to changes positively, handle other essential tasks as assigned, and productively challenge the status quo as appropriate.

Position Overview

TEGNA is looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer - CTV with 5-7 years of experience to join our dynamic engineering team. The role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks while ensuring high-quality and reliable CTV applications.

The candidate will work closely with Product, Development, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to drive automation strategy, improve test coverage, identify defects, and continuously enhance product quality.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable automation frameworks.

  • Experience designing, building, or enhancing automation frameworks using Playwright.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with API automation and backend validation.
  • Experience with test automation reporting and debugging automation failures.
  • Experience mentoring QA engineers and conducting automation code reviews.
  • Knowledge of performance, compatibility, localization, or cross-platform testing is a plus.
