Job description

We are looking for a Python Developer with hands‑on experience developing Gen AI solutions. As a developer, you will leverage your deep technical knowledge to drive the creation of high‑quality software products. You will also be expected to share your technical expertise and promote a culture of technical excellence within the team. The developer will work with a Team Lead and will be a code‑contributing member of the team that will deliver solutions against the sprint‑level commitments.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating technical knowledge and expertise in software development, including programming languages, frameworks, and best practices.
• Actively contributes to the implementation of features and technical solutions. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that meets the highest standards of quality.
• Collaborate with other Engineers to define and evolve the overall system architecture and design.
• Provide guidance on scalable, robust, and efficient solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.
• Code contributing member of an Agile team, working to deliver sprint goals.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends. Evaluate their potential impact on the organization and provide recommendations for technology adoption and innovation.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Technical Proficiency

• Expert‑level Python 3.x proficiency for scalable, resilient, and high‑performance applications.
• Advanced knowledge of Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask), best practices, and design patterns (OOP).
• Experience with various database technologies, including relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
• Proven expertise in designing, developing, and consuming secure RESTful APIs and other inter‑application integration patterns.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and establishing robust automated deployment pipelines.
• Strong background in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), including significant experience with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Advanced troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization skills for complex, distributed applications and systems.
• Architectural and implementation expertise in designing, securing (OAuth2, JWT), and optimizing RESTful and gRPC APIs, focusing on idempotency, rate limiting, and robust error handling.
• Experience in modern version control systems, particularly Git, including advanced branching strategies and pull request workflows.

Recommended Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in Applications Development or Systems Analysis, with a substantial and demonstrated focus on Java and Python technologies.
• Proven experience in successfully delivering complex software development projects from inception to production deployment.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Python application development, encompassing advanced knowledge of frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI) best practices, and design patterns.
• Strong proficiency in software architecture principles, distributed system design patterns (e.g., Microservices, Event‑Driven Architecture), and object‑oriented programming.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Additional Requirements

• Good understanding of agentic AI solutions frameworks like Google ADK, LangChain, and LangGraph.
• Good understanding of multi‑agent systems, integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) and AI‑powered capabilities (Vertex AI, Google A2UI, RAG pipelines, vector databases).
• Java (17+ preferred) programming experience and knowledge of Object Oriented Design principles, Spring ecosystem, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate.
• Knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) for full‑stack development capabilities.
