Job summary

Ford Motor in Chennai seeks a Senior Software Engineer/Project Lead to design and evolve cloud-native data analytics capabilities for Ford Pro. You will build EL/ELT/ETL pipelines, APIs with Spring Boot, and ensure scalability, observability, and security across GCP-based services.

You will collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams, drive best practices (TDD, CI/CD), and deliver reusable data and API frameworks that enable analytics and business insights for Ford Pro

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience with GCP, Cloud Run, Spring Boot, and Java.
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and XP.
• Experience deploying APIs on cloud technologies (Azure and GCP).

Pro 360 Data Analytics & AI Portfolio: Leads design and product teams which create the operational core data capability for Ford Pro Tech. Includes ETL processes, multi-tier data model designs and implementations, data quality strategy & monitoring, plus domain expertise of data sets in the environment, third-party data evaluations, data quality, creating intelligence layers for ease of use. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and evolving our cloud native services supporting analytic software tools to identify best designs, improve business processes, and generate measurable business outcomes This critical application leverages Python, Java Springboot, GCP Cloud Run, and cloud-native technologies to deliver optimal customer experience. You will drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our core systems.

Job Description

Develop EL/ELT/ETL pipelines to make data available in BigQuery analytical data store from disparate batch, streaming data sources for the Business Intelligence and Analytics teams. Develop Spring Boot/Java API/microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing GCP services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Pub/Sub, and more. Champion engineering best practices, including code reviews, adherence to architectural principles, and the development of reusable frameworks and components. Drive the implementation of comprehensive observability, monitoring, and alerting frameworks (SLOs/SLIs) to ensure the performance, reliability, and availability of critical systems. Lead performance engineering initiatives, including proactive bottleneck identification, capacity planning, and the establishment of performance baselines and benchmarks. Serve as a Deliver software frequently using Test Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) Work with team members to establish best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk. Interact and work closely with product managers to devise solutions and break them into incremental production-ready user stories. Executing API Load and Performance (L&P) on API/modules developed. Use DevOps tools such as Tekton, SonarQube, Fossa, and GitHub to deploy, improve and manage software.

Qualifications for Internal Candidates

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering
• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years of experience with GCP, Cloud Run, Spring Boot, and Java
• Experience working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and eXtreme Programming as an Anchor
• Experience in launching large scale global API's on cloud technologies such as Azure and GCP
• Agile software engineering practices - TDD, CI/CD, Refactoring, Clean Code, Pairing/Mobbing Developing and publishing APIs with Swagger docs in Apigee and APIM.
• Experience with using DevOps tools like Jenkins, SonarQube, CheckMarx and GitHub

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with Python, Google Cloud Platform (or comparable), and related cloud native tools like Cloud Run, GKE, PubSub, Cloud Functions/Schedulers, APIGEE, GCP Logging, Terraform scripts, etc. and deployment pipelines like Cloud Build and Tekton
